None of that is good but to be honest with you that's still not the top of the chain for me trying to keep trump off the ballots was probably in my mind the most blatant unarguable indefensible example of the court system attempting to be utilized to subvert democracy. While it may not on the face of it be the most egregious thing, it was an out and out attempt to limit voter's choices as to who would lead the country by subverting the court process.

Nothing trump has done or any government before his can compare with that. When you added into the number of witch hunt legal cases that are going on it is absolutely horrific. In the states, the courts have become a political plaything.

I grew up at a time when the media was full of examples of Americans who embodied the whole "I disagree with what you say but defend to the death your right to say it" mentality. America was that place where even if you disagreed you would not raise your hand against the person with whom you were disagreeing. Unless it was about sports.

That image has absolutely been shattered in the last 10 years. The fact that no one went to jail for the steel dossier to be honest was a little shocking. This was the political equivalent of swatting. To see the FBI lean into it was absolutely flabbergasting. And then it went downhill from there.

Now I just don't know what to say. Basically they're at the banana republic stage where it's hard to take them seriously as a country anymore.

Obama's presidency was a disaster for democracy but he was protected because he's black. But did some sketchy shit

The democracy can be lost easily and the explanations, seeking scapegoats won't matter one bit. Part of it is just the binary system that naturally spawns ultimate partisanship simply because if not me then him no better me. And the other part is the obsession with the dream often and then, permanently ahead of, and on top of the reality. Yes, a difficult layout with few obvious ways out.
