Double Haters’ Still Up for Grabs

Quote

A new Monmouth poll finds about 1 in 6 voters hold unfavorable views of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

Most of this group remains up for grabs in the general election as few have a strong inclination to vote for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.  In other poll results, most Republicans say immigration and inflation are their top presidential election issues while abortion is the most determinative voting issue for Democrats. The Israel-Gaza war and climate change are much less important for voters in either party.

In a Biden-Trump rematch, just over 4 in 10 registered voters say they will either definitely (32%) or probably (11%) vote for the Democratic incumbent and, in a separate question, a nearly identical number will definitely (30%) or probably (14%) support the former Republican president. About half say they will definitely not vote for Biden (49%) and a similar number – although not the same voters – say they have definitely ruled out Trump (48%). These results have not moved much since last fall.

I am in this camp being as I do not view Biden nor Trump as the best candidate.

Do you mean equally bad? Who is "the best candidate" who can get more votes?

Hard to know since whoever is NOT RUNNING.

candidate most likely to win in 2024 is not the same as best candidate possible.. I know that's a tough distinction for you to make.

The FACT that you failed to answer "who is the best candidate who can get more votes" tells us that either you want someone who can't get voted in, AKA anti-democratic, or you don't know who would be a better candidate.

In a democracy, getting more votes is essential to being the best candidate.

So let's try again and assume you're anti-democratic: "who is the best candidate" that might be a dictator?

dictator

You are a terrible poker player. The inclusion of this word tells a lot about your personality. It tells me that there is no "dis"-cussion with you. You want to tell us how we think and how we should think. No answer is going to satisfy you.

Joe Biden.

No.. he fails miserably (much like all of the others before since Nixon) to ease up on the spending.

And what if spending more is cheaper in some circumstances than letting the economy languish like Obama did?

You are the one who said the best candidate might not be the one who can get the most votes.

That is anti-democratic. AKA, dictator.

IF ^this were true, we would not be having an election. Duh

Another reason that conversing with you is a waste of time.. you have no idea that the word, "best", is subjective. Again, there is only one acceptable way to view that word.. your way. Well. I am out of patience.

Just answer the question: who is "the best candidate"? Either dictator or can get the most votes.

Why can't you answer? You're the one who said the current candidates are not "the best candidate." So who is?

BTW, I only said, "could be a dictator," but not getting the most votes IS anti-democratic and suspect.

Ya...LBJ had a big hand in getting that going. But ya...Nixon made things exponentially worse.

It is unfortunate that he's CONNED the MAGA CULT like YOU.

They all have. That's what happens when you make funny-money.

They'd better learn to stop.

It boils down to ego. they have folks like robosmith and WCM touting them as saviors. This gives them inflated self worth. As a result.. they have to keep spending in order to keep up the facade of being some hero. Cutting the budget, folks losing jobs, projects getting shelved does not help that image

Saving the economy from disastrous unnecessary collapse, saves LIVES.

It's NOT ego, it's a matter of preventing unnecessary suffering by MILLIONS just to serve your IDEOLOGY.

Got a clue for you; businessmen know how to manage debt without long term damage.

The problem comes when people like Karl Rove and Trump start believing they can magically create a "permanent Republican majority" by goosing an economy that is already at near full capacity utilization.

Meanwhile Democrats do is to prevent collapse of an economy which is crashing. See Obama and the Great Recession and Biden and the pandemic near collapse. Both caused under Republicans and saved by Democrats.

IOW, your libertarian IDEOLOGY has blinded you to pragmatism.
