There have been times when most of the maternity beds in Richmond general are taken up by people who are just here to get the kid citizenship and then head back home. Looking after these people has become an industry for some communities and it bothers me that we think so little of our citizenship that we give it away so easily. Under US law, if a person is present within the US, they are subject to US jurisdiction, unless they are present as a foreign ambassador, in which case they are partially exempt from US law. Illegal aliens are subject to US jurisdiction ONLY while their asses are getting processed out of the country - their children too. The Constitution applies to citizens, not non-citizens. I’m not a constitutional scholar; but I’m pretty sure that the whole “within its jurisdiction” thing pertains to Indian territories and foreign ambassadors and nobody else.
