blackbird Posted October 19, 2023 Report Posted October 19, 2023 This is how bad things have become in this country now. It has been two years since the heat wave forest fire burned down the town of Lytton in B.C. and the people have not been able to get started having their homes rebuilt. Now we learn it is partly because of some aboriginal archeological digging going on that has found some old aboriginal artifacts. There is also big money involved for a company monitoring the digging to put in services. This has now become a part of reconciliation and the governments are blocking the rebuilding of homes in the town. They gave a company the right to dig the trenches to put in the services to properties and this company is charging about $1,700 per day to have monitors watching the operation for about ten days to see if there any artifacts in the ground. That is an additional cost of about $17,000 for the home owner. This is ridiculous and a huge scam. Archeology work the latest roadblock to rebuild Lytton, B.C.: Mayor (msn.com) Quote
CdnFox Posted October 19, 2023 Report Posted October 19, 2023 well as you say 'canada today' Honestly when it burned and they started talking about rebuilding my first thought was "i bet it never happens'. herbie Posted October 21, 2023 Report Posted October 21, 2023 It's absurd that when some homes were there since the Gold Rush days, they suddenly must be checked for archealogical artifacts. As sssssslllllloooooowwwwwwllllllyyyyy as possible., Quote
