Timeouts on the 'Unread Content' Link

This is still happening.  

It seems to work fine immediately after I "mark all read" but slowly it goes away to the point where it times out when you try to use it.

A shame, because it's a great way to get caught up quickly.

That's odd, I've never gotten a timeout from this section.

I just rebooted the server, please give it a try again, and see if this timeout still happens. 

Please update the thread again if it happens, and the exact time that you got a timeout. I can then check that against the logs.

I cleared the browser (everything) and then went again. 

Same error - Chrome:

I may need to resize the VPS that the site is running on, it looks like we're getting more traffic, and that's impacting server load.

OK, I made some serious changes to the database this afternoon (which caused some downtime, sorry about that), and these changes should solve most of the problems we were having before.

@Michael Hardner, @Contrarian can you revisit the Unread Content page, you should not be getting any 504 errors anymore.

It seems (might be wrong) this function does not work when a lot of users are online on the website. Now, the system says there are 110 users online and it does not work:

Latest timeout error: 2022-12-02 11:19:48 UTC (06:19:48 AM ET CA). 

In a few hours, when the traffic is decreased, it works great. 

Update: is not the number of users online, is the amount of unread material. As soon as I press read all, then it works. In a few hours when more material is unread, then the issue happens.
