Covid counter methods?

This topic is to explore different methods in dealing with Covid, prevent transmission or assist in treatment. Methods may be used in conjunction with one another to estimate a favorable result. 

 

Current methods deployed with pandemic results:

Mandatory masking for most social environments, transmission of infections still occurs. 

Mandatory vaccinations and selected double dose entrance requirements to select public environments, transmission of infections still occurs. 

Social distancing of at least 6 ft from person to person, transmission of infections still occurs. 

 

Examples of other methods: 

Mandatory self isolation during infection. Currently only "recommended self isolating" 

Mandatory infection testing. Occurs at certain facilities based on vaccine status.

Infection control.

 

General questions proposed:

What other methods can be deployed to prevent transmission of COVID?

How much time is allotted to test the method before the method is considered a failure? 

Definition of success to a method? Endemic result?

Intelligent combination of strategies is the answer. But it requires intelligence, responsibility, ingenuity and courage.

- Selective protection for the vulnerable, freely available whenever needed

- Best quality effective and efficient diagnostics and early intervention in top notch public health facilities

- Intelligent, precise and current monitoring of the situation

- Clear, honest and effective communications with the population

- Personal responsibility, voluntary and enforced

Success is the minimal number of negative outcomes while the society continues to function normally to the maximum extent possible. Restricting general society in any severe way is not a success but a failure. The function and job is not to manage the society, but the epidemics.

Easy and effective treatment oral pills.

Not sure if you listed finding effective treatment or cure like the Pfizer pills claiming to be 89% effective in preventing severe illnesses and death. More efforts needs to be placed on that front if we really want to end pandemic. And more importantly once this is found then remove all barriers including patents so that third world countries can mass produce them.

Maintaining trust is crucial for two cornerstone elements of an intelligent strategy: voluntary compliance and individual responsibility. Trust is a product of honesty, clarity and results and cannot be based on misleading, confusion and manipulation. Employing massive propaganda in the hope of getting a quick fix was both dumb and grossly irresponsible. Not in the least because when propaganda effect wanes it leaves behind a vacuum of credibility with population not believing anything what is said.

For that reason, effective communications should be pretty much the opposite of what it is now: full transparency and honesty, no manipulation, selective information and so on to a forgone and quite likely, wrong conclusion. There's lot more that can be said on specific measures, but no point as nobody's listening.

I was just reading an interesting one from a Big Pharma toadie. I forget where it is but I imagine even Google will have it for you on their first page with a search like "Pfizer Ivermectin."

Basically toadie was describing the miracle of Pfizer's new pill and the horror of Ivermectin.

He, like you, gives us a lot of impressive stats from early Pfizer tests. As I recall the stats were glowing like little angels on their tests for their vaccine too. Later it turned our their efficacy rating was off by about 20% and they didn't have info on what later turned out to be the vaccine's waning efficacy. Also I read a claim they had statistics on adverse reactions in children but forget to tell us.

Anyway toadie went on to tell us what a conspiracy theory it was to suggest that Ivermectin could have any use where the pfizer pill is just plain marvellous so don't even try to question it. He mocks those suggesting Big Pharma critique of Ivermectin is based on the fear Ivermectin is cheap, tested for humans by time, and accessible if the powers that be lay off.

Both Ivermectin and the Pfizer pill make use of something they call Protease inhibition. Toadie admits that but says noticing it in Ivermectin is a "conspiracy theory" because to make it useful you'd have to  use too much and there's no scientific evidence of it being useful at doses he would suggest as safe.  All the evidence of Ivermectin being useful in other countries is ignored by Toadie and he also ignores the fact that when doctors are allowed to prescribe it for patients like Joe Rogan they often do so as an ingredient in a cocktail of other cheap available drugs and vitamins.

So I say, sure prescribe your drugs but take the Big Pharma boot off the neck of other possible therapeutics.
