No its due to rulings by our justice systems and negotiations with our governments. There were no woke people in the mid 20th century but there were cultures being cancelled. cannuck Posted January 6, 2022 Report Posted January 6, 2022 (edited) OK, we have heard from the city folk, now maybe consider what someone who has lived and worked with indigenous communities thinks when they hear this BS. Take a family with enough problems to force social services to take their child or children away for safety reasons then throw $40k, $80k or $120k or more at them and you will now likely have very well financed version of MORE of the same problems that caused the ruckus in the first place. What a racist pile of tripe. Native people have been listening to it for years, give them a little money and all they'll spend it on is booze. In fact its an old mantra that's circulated widely amongst our cultures for centuries - poor people can't handle money. What caused all this ruckus in the first place is the dysfunction stemming from the century or more of colonialism, dispossession and genocide inflicted against the parents and communities that native kids were snatched from. Money makes everything easier and in the 45 years I've lived and worked with native people in the village my property abuts against things have only gotten better. Treaty settlements self-government and reconciliation have been one of the main economic drivers in my region. Everyone has benefitted. 1 Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
