Those trailers, MB, 120,000 of them are sitting unused while the homeless are still waiting for help.

You know judging by the few posts of yours I have read tonight, Two short planks does not begin to describe you. The whole export of the Softwood Lumber industry, placed side by side, might just about cover the size of your ego and the measurement of your skull.

Once again, another well-thought-out reasoned reply by eureka.

Doesn't need much reasoning power, Monty. That is the sad part of having to respond to your goodies. They pose no challenge. Just a few simple facts will sufice to deconstruct anything you say.

Toro:

Bill Clinton's victories masked this trend, but it was certainly happening in the 1990s. The GOP won control of the House in the 1990s and the shift in the senate began then too. Also, its debateable whether or not Slick Willie would have won if Perot hadn't run. But Clinton was a brilliant politician and he understand that he had to track to the right to win. Many of you complain about the Democrats shift to the right under Clinton, but they had no choice. The Democrats simply cannot win if they don't capture a portion of the centre-right vote.

So you concede that Clinton was no leftist. Kerry was no leftist. Hillary is no leftist. The Democratic party is a corporate party through and through, in thrall to the same elites as the G.O.P with the same ultimate interests in mind. The idea that the Dems are a left party is a myth propigated by far-right idealogues. What I am saying is they've tracked too far to the right and need to settle into a niche. If that means maintaining a position on the centre, so be it, but any further move to tthe right simply risks soldifying them as Republican-lite.

I still have my copy somewhere around, err. What is the point, though, of referring to something credible when dealing with fanatics?

Put up or shut up, it's quite simple.

Shady, he won't because he can't. Dude is an absolute joke. His posts make no sense...

Put what up or shut up? err said that there was an article in Harper's magazine about the stealing of the election. The article says just what it said he does.

I take Harper's and I have read the same article. I would not expect either of you to read that magazine since it is about the best source of political analysis in the USA and you don't want to know about the truth, do you. Just read it for yourself

The joke is you, Shoop. You have been since you came onto the forums. And, I don't appreciate the "Dude" call. I have been an observer and commentator on that scene since before you were born.

You have identified yourself as a student but you are clearly not a very good one. If you were, you would make some attempt to learn and inform youself instead of posing as knowledgeable commentator.

You have a long way to go.

Yup, the Clintons are centrists and Kerry ran as a centrist, though he is a liberal senator. But the Democratic Party gets their money from the corporations AND the unions AND the trial lawyers.

If you run as a leftist in America nationally, you will get crushed. So be pure, be a leftist, and lose. Simple as that. The Republican Party would salivate at the Dems moving left. It becomes easier for them.

Just a mirror image of Canada. The Liberals would salivate if the CPC moved back to the right. Now all the Liberals and NDs can do is cry about a hidden agenda. Thankfully the CPC were centrist in the eyes of enough Canadians to deny Martin a majority.

The Democrats have to be centrists to have a shot at winning. The last true 'liberal' to run for the Dems was McGovern in 1972. A crushing defeat of a decent, decent man. Of course the veep pick didn't help...

I disagree Shoop. I think Jimmy Carter was left of centre and probably one of the few US Presidents to really align the U.S. with a Trudeau Made-in-Canada agenda. He supported big government policies and was, like Trudeau, going to make the U.S. go metric.

How did he get in, you ask, since the U.S. is pro-free market. Simple...Ford was associated with Watergate and Carter played the innocent guy from Georgia.

Of course, Reagan came in and talked about how government was the problem and how Carter liked high taxes and the Americans through him out.
