Those who like the NDP are going to hate the backlash they leave in their wake as they hang themselves. It can be argued that majority of prime ministers, doesn't matter which party they represent, have "blown up the province". Right now, the NDP premier in BC has a majority approval rating. Christy Clark, former premier of BC, a so-called Liberal, but who is equivalent to the federal Conservatives as far as policies, really pissed off a lot of people with their policies and corruption. NDP are notorious for blowing themselves up and creating a huge conservative backlash, see Rachel Notley and Bob Rae, leading to Jason Kenney and Mike Harris. The NDP only get into power when Liberals or Conservatives fuck up real bad, and then they do even worse and torpedo themselves for decades. You think it was bad under Clark, Provincial NDP going to hang themselves as always, you'll see. Edited May 21, 2019 by Yzermandius19 Quote

You don't see that happening the other way around? The cycle goes both ways. How did Notley come to power? What about Horgan in BC? They are a result of the backlash from the previous government. Stop being so narrow-minded. Quote "What do you think of Western civilization?" Gandhi was asked. "I think it would be a good idea," he said.

I just said the way the NDP gets into power is a major backlash against Liberals or Conservatives, but then they create an even bigger backlash against themselves, due to screwing the pooch even more, change for the sake of change always backfiring on the voters when they go NDP. It's not narrow minded to point out the NDP in power are their own worst enemies, it's just pointing out the truth, apparently a truth you don't want to hear. Just look at BC, last time the NDP screwed the pooch, they were lucky to hold on as long as they did, and it lead to 16 years of the Liberals, that's backlash right there. I'd love to see an even bigger push to make Vancouver a tech hub. That has its negatives, like even more increase in housing prices, but again, it comes down to how desirable a city is. More desire brings more competition for property. You're correct when it comes to having all your eggs in one basket. Look at Alberta and the issues they have with low oil prices. We all need to diversify and not rely on one resource or one trading partner. A forward thinking province is one that goes beyond the norm and instead of fighting against the inevitable changes to embracing and adapting with emerging markets. I doubt that Vcr or any other Cdn city can ever be a world class tech hub. Places like India and China have 40x our population and wages are lower. We also have the States to compete with. We're not that far from Silicon Valley, on a global scale. And Seattle is actually our nearest big city.... you know....Microsoft. Alberta still has a lot of agriculture obviously, but a province like Alberta will never have a great manufacturing base with such a small population, and such high energy demands compared to warmer climates.
