Robert Greene Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 (edited) If you remember the actress who played Becky on full house, Lori Loughlin has recently been arrested. Shes being threatened with a 20 year sentence for trying to bribe the University of Southern California to accept her two daughters. How on earth does someone get a life sentence for a collage admissions bribe? While America is running 1.5 Trillion dollar deficits, taxpayers are going to spend millions convicting and incarcerating a former actress. If the punishment were a year in prison, i'd understand, but 20 years is a total waste of prison resources. Edited April 4, 2019 by Robert Greene 1 Quote
OftenWrong Posted April 4, 2019 Report Posted April 4, 2019 I must agree, glad you framed it that way. I had no idea the sentence could be so severe. However if it is a charge that involves financial fraud above a certain dollar value, likely it falls under some section of the criminal code that extends to very serious crimes. Are the various colleges and universities that were involved in these dealings under any kind of investigation? Shouldn't they at least be fined, and lose their accreditation? Quote

It is not a life sentence in the U.S. Laughlin and the other perps in this bribery scheme face multiple counts on multiple charges that expose them to the maximum possibility of 20+ years, but she/they will never receive those kind of sentences as first offenders. The total max sentences accrue from bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit same. They should move the trials to Chicago where "celebrities" are permitted to commit crimes without serving any time. Edited April 6, 2019 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
