Argus Posted April 1, 2019 Report Posted April 1, 2019 By default. They've got 100,000 impoverished people a month illegally crossing the border, and have absolutely no way to stop them. All they have to do is claim asylum. The U.S. can't get a wall built, and even if they did built one they'll just walk up to the crossing and claim asylum. The U.S. has no place to lock them up and a congress which won't supply a penny to do so. That only leaves letting them all in. The numbers keep growing as people down south realize all they have to do is show up with their kids and they're in. As word continues to get out those numbers will continue to increase. The U.S. effectively has no border controls. Why even pay the Border Patrol without any laws to back them up? bush_cheney2004 Posted April 1, 2019 Report Posted April 1, 2019 Because the drama is handing Trump another term as president. The Democrats are repeating the same mistakes of 2016. A significant portion of U.S. immigrant citizens voted for Trump, agreeing with stronger border protections. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Well, it's one of the few things I agree with him about. But the Republicans haven't helped at all, and they have done nothing about the ridiculous lack of law and enforcement ability. Europe saw a huge surge of support for the far right because of 1.7 million migrants coming into the EU over a 4 year period. The U.S. is going to have 1.2 million just this year, and is smaller, to boot. And all the Democratic idiots are doing is smiling smugly because there's no wall. bush_cheney2004 Posted April 2, 2019 Report Posted April 2, 2019 We both know that the illegal immigration problem has frustrated several presidents because the U.S. Congress refuses to act because of political risks for both parties. I remember the last amnesty, and there is no stomach for that now either. Congress is paralyzed...refuses to act....so presidents manage with executive orders and other policy enforcement (e.g. deportations). It sucks...and has sucked long before Trump came along to exploit the issue. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
egghead Posted April 2, 2019 Report Posted April 2, 2019 The Democrats have the house, but they are busying attack Trump or fight with each other. Then, I believe Republicans are doing nothing on purpose. So, nothing will happen Quote
eyeball Posted April 2, 2019 Report Posted April 2, 2019 Quote The US seems to be adopting an open borders policy I think it's more like a policy that's backfiring on them, and us - a consequence of forcing an open borders policy on the rest of the world for our corporations and money. Globalism in a word. I recall when the people now crying the hardest about the consequences of globalism also laughed the loudest at people warning them about the consequences. And BTW, as always, we haven't seen anything yet, wait until climate change really starts kicking in. Probably still laughing their stupid asses off over that one.
