Unless he wants to stay in Toronto because he believes in Masai, which would be sweet. His personality is reminiscent of a humble hockey player, who is soft spoken, keeps his head down, works hard, and leads by example, which is a super rare thing in Basketball. What's not to love? He's still gonna be second banana to LeBron if he goes to the Clippers, so long as LeBron is in LA, LeBron is the main event, and besides. nobody grew up rooting for the Clippers in LA, if you are going to LA, go all the way, Lakers or bust. My Da was a Lakers fan, I was raised to be a Lakers fan, the Clippers were a joke team, don't go to the Clippers, the Clippers are lame. Edited July 6, 2019 by Dougie93

The Clippers are pretty well run now, and the Lakers are the joke team with the meddling owner, getting by on their brand name to rope in LeBron, and trading all their future assets for AD, it's bizarro world in LA. However, if Kawhi goes to the Lakers, you might as well just hand them the NBA Championship right now, barring injury, Edited July 6, 2019 by Yzermandius19
Yzermandius19 Posted July 6, 2019 Report Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) Kawhi to the Clippers, damn you Paul George. Was good while it lasted, thanks Kawhi. Edited July 6, 2019 by Yzermandius19

Dougie93 Posted July 6, 2019 Report Posted July 6, 2019 Now everybody can get back to Marner watch, but if there is an offer sheet out there, I don't know what the delay is, I think Marner's camp keeps pushing this offer sheet narrative, but if there's an offer sheet, go ahead and sign it, that would frankly be better than a Nylander style holdout which seems to be where this is actually going.

Leafs drafting dudes with invasive hockey parents can have it's drawbacks, who knew? Edited July 6, 2019 by Yzermandius19

Paul Marner is worse than Micheal Nylander, Paul has a chip on his shoulder, and he was set off by Lamoriello, but this chip on the shoulder well predates the Leafs, Mitchy has always been the small kid who people wrote off as never going to make it, so this Marner's against the world thing has been there since Mitch was a toddler.
Dougie93 Posted July 6, 2019 Report Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) Bottom line tho, if the Marner's had some team lined up which has the four picks and the cap room to sign him for 14, 15, 16 million dollars, and Mitch signs that offer sheet, I'd walk away and take the picks, because that's basically a Lindros situation, de facto trade demand, wherein you say buh-bye Eric, hello Foppa, and move on. What's annoying about the Marner's is all the bluffing, like nobody is budging because you tell Darren Dreger you are going to sign an offer sheet, if you're going to do it, just do it, then Kyle can see what the situation is and make a decision. One things for sure, this petulant self righteous Marner family is dragging their own good name through the mud, 3 x 9 is plenty fair, so is 8 x 10.5, if you're going to blow it up just because Matthews makes a million more before taxes, just f**k off then, if you don't want to be a Leaf, so be it, just don't come crying to us after. Go ahead, walk away, just realize that if you do, you can never come home again, big blue and white machine rolls on without you, but we will never forget nor forgive. If you'd rather be persona non grata in your own town for the rest of your life for an extra $500K, you're not the player we thought you were anyways. He's not Kawhi, Kawhi delivered the goods, Marner on the other hand ain't won shit, he choked in the playoffs. Edited July 6, 2019 by Dougie93

Dougie93 Posted July 7, 2019 Report Posted July 7, 2019 (edited) Rumor Control; apparently Kawhi wanted the Raptors to trade for Paul George so they could team up, but apparently the Raptors declined, so Kawhi went to the Clippers, who promptly went out and traded for Paul George. Reports are that the Raptors were offered Westbrook and George for Pascal Siakam and a haul of draft picks, but Spicy P is such a hot commodity the Raptors decided to keep him and the picks. Seems like the Raptors think that Spicy P is a potential superstar of the future, and they can't be the only ones if OKC was offering Westbrook and George in trade. As the Clippers traded a ludicrous five first round picks, Shai Alexander and Danillo Gallinari, just for George alone, I'd say the Raptors were right to walk away. Edited July 7, 2019 by Dougie93

Once the five first round picks were on the table plus Shai Alexander and Danillo Gallinari, Toronto was unable to match, even if they wanted to, that's what I heard. Even if Masai was tempted to make a mistake, which I doubt, the Clippers upping the ante prevented him from doing so. Masai is the master of the rebuild anyway, best GM in sports will get the chance to prove just how great he is yet again, can't wait for him to fleece some more GM's dumb enough to trade with him. Rebuild around Spicy P FTW. Edited July 8, 2019 by Yzermandius19

I don't think his big meltdowns in game sevens two years in a row is helping neither, he's made a reputation for himself, as a bonehead. Bad back and bad head, plus asking for an overpay.

All the GM's not being retarded on this one is strange.

Perhaps when you don't get signed right away that starts to give all the GM's pause, it just sort of feeds on itself, everybody notices that nobody is taking the plunge and that snowballs.

Perhaps, though I'd be surprised if one of them doesn't think they know more than everyone else and take the plunge to their own detriment at some point. Like Dorion or Bergevin for instance, someone is going to give him too much money and term, if they don't, that's just weird, not buying that 31 GM's are competent enough to avoid it. Thankfully we only have a Ceci problem for this year, hopefully Babs doesn't like him and he gets forced down the depth chart when Dermott gets back, but the fact that he's making 4.5 makes me a fear he's going to get played a lot, God forbid he becomes one of Babcock's toys and gets played the shit out of. Well Ceci haters talk about him like he's Frankie Corrado or something, but the problem is that Ceci is not that feeble, Ceci does play 25 minutes a night in the NHL, he sucks at it, but he does play a lot, so he does seem like a candidate for the MBCC.
