Mr. Reynolds said he and House Leader Tony Valeri struck a deal last week that would have the government's two budget bills pass without opposition roadblocks in exchange for amendments to the same-sex marriage bill and a delay of the bill until the fall.

But the day after that agreement was struck and approved by both Mr. Harper and the Conservative caucus, Mr. Valeri was on television saying the session would continue until both the budget bill and same-sex bill had been passed, Mr. Reynolds said.

"And I think when the public sees all of this, the public will accept a summer election and we should vote them out of office next week," he said.

The most recent polls show that an election now would pretty much return the same parliament as the last one did, with another Liberal minority government.

And next election we WILL have a Liberal majority, Oh sure the polls are close now, but once that writ gets dropped the Cons support will plummet, they'll have one of their MPs shooting their mouth off about using the notwithstanding clause, or accuse Paul Martin of supporting child porn and their support will plummet. The Conservatives, like their far right supporters, are too stupid to win an election.

If an election is forced upon us right now, then the Conservatives will see another drop in support, as they will be blamed for causing the vote. Many people already have a belief that the Tories are power hungry, and this would confirm it that notion for them. But that issue just lasts a couple of days into the campaign, and more important issues will take precdence. I would imagine that the big issue in the campaign will be same-sex marriage.
