“Dipstick,” someone said

By

James Bredin

A Judas, a Benedict Arnold but with a smirky smile,

Betrayed a friend, country, her party, secretly with guile,

Reminded me of some old cold-war turncoat communist spy,

Who went and joined the other side and we never did know why.

Add this to the Adscam inquiries that keep us awake,

And how many backstabbing cabinet members can they make?

Worthy of a Shakespearian play -- all this contempt,

No honor, justice, principles, respect and they never repent.

And we are held captive as we watch them all on TV,

Without referendums, recall, term limits and we agree,

A society of sheep captured by wolves, who want us sedate,

One free-fall Quebec referendum away from a failed state?

They are trying to Close Down Adscam

By

James Bredin

The Adscam Liberals appear to want everything centralized,

They feel this would be more in their favor and more civilized,

And without recall or elected Senate how could they be wrong?

We should act and walk in unison and sing the same song.

And without referendums we are married to their status quo,

That is except Quebec who also gets equalization dough,

And the occasional referendum to see if they’ll stay,

But we’re forbidden referendums and we always obey.

Though we’re taxed up to the eyes and no one ever acts surprised,

As they give and get our money in kickbacks, we might despise,

And we’re not allowed to question the appointments they make,

To the High Court or the Senate ‘cause they can’t make a mistake.

We practice subservience and it makes us feel so good,

Without questions or democracy that’s little understood,

And without term limits or even set-date elections,

Herded docile sheep waiting for the lions’ selections.

As they point their fingers from behind firewall protection,

Proclaim their perfection and try to avoid an election,

Try to close down Adscam inquiry because of the heat,

As their talking heads protect them and they’re not too discreet.

That's where you got it totally wrong Tweal. Harper represents a new Party, albiet a combination of the PC's and the Alliance. Both have different philosophies, but found enough common ground to actually put together some ideas to make some beneficial changes to the political landscape in this country. Sure Mulroney is a member but he is not the leader. On the other hand Martin is just an extension of the same old bunch that were there under Chretien, the most corrupt PM this country has ever seen. Martin made no changes when he took over from that moron Chretien, in fact he carried on with the status quo, even to the point of keeping many of Chretien's corrupt Ministers in place, so they could continue to feed their friend's in the ad business.

Yes Mulroney was corrupt, and is definitely in the same category as both Chretien and Martin. I for one did not support any of them for that very reason. Harper on the other hand has not had the chance to prove whether he can do something positive for this country or not. Blindly following the Chretien, Martin strategy of fearmongering, and demonizing Harper will do nothing but prove my point which is that some people continue to wear blinders and refuse to admit that the government we have in power right now is simply an extension of Chretien's reign, and that is nothing but a bunch of thieves and liars who are willing to do anything or say anything to hang onto power.

This not about good government anymore, because I don't think the Liberal's and the senior civil servants they have put in place are capable of giving us good government. They buy off unprincipled people like Stronach with promises of power and prestige, and they attempt to buy off Canadian's with our own money by sprinkling it around in electioneering style announcements.

I don't know whether Harper is better or worse that what we have right now, but I do know the LIberal's have become arrogant and corrupt, just as Mulroney was before he was kicked to the curb by Canadian's. I don't feel we have much of a choice but to rid ourselves of this present government one way or another. Either keep what we have and watch this country go down the tubes or try someone different and see if things will improve, God knows they are not going to improve under Martin and the Liberals. Martin is not the solution, and neither is Layton, they are the problem.

Let's look at this logically, Belinda said that she was switching to the Liberal's because the Conservatives were siding with the Bloc, and therefore were a threat to Canadian unity. Well it wasn't the Conservatives who attempted to buy Quebec votes through ADSCAM, that was a Liberal initiative. Support for the Bloc has never been higher in Quebec because of the Liberal's not the Conservatives. Anyone would have to be blind or ignorant to believe Belinda's jumped to the Liberal's for any other reason than the promise of power, because money is not what motivates Belinda, power is.

Who are you trying to kid? Liberal's until recent years was always a force to be reconned with in Quebec, while the PC's, Conservatives NDP and all of the other political parties have only ever elected a few members from Quebec. Make no mistake, it is in fact the Liberal's who have caused the Quebec people to overwhelingly support the Bloc.

For some strange reason some people feel that the leader of a politcal party must be from Quebec in order to deserve a vote. I on the other hand am quite tired of having a PM from a Province that seems to have a penchant for electing people to the Parliament of Canada that only seem to care about the well-being of Quebec while the rest of the country could fall apart for all they care. I will never again support a party who's leader is from Quebec. If Quebec ever stops threatening and actually votes to leave I want a PM in place that is from Canada, not a foreign country.

Liberals Rule

By

James Bredin

When Liberals dominate the world or a web site; they rule,

Democracy is not their strong point and it’s like you’re in school,

Because their divine right of kings, tells them when and what to do,

As they appoint their special friends without questions or review.

Then visit tin pot despot dictators all over the globe,

While they still keep on trying to close down the Adscam probe,

Shady dealings isolated behind firewall protection,

While government pompous propagandists give us direction.

Appoint senators and judges to all the proper places,

You don’t know the appointees and never saw their faces,

Don’t know whether they have vested interests or special friends,

And you’re not allowed to know or ask about inclination or trends.

Without questions or answers because this is their way,

Is this about justice or honesty or being led astray?

And if they manage to close down Adscam; what can we say?

Would the Adscam Liberals be so bold as to betray?

It’s order in council during parliamentary recess,

For months at a time behind closed doors but I digress,

Their UN Tin pot despot dictator friends would understand,

They too don’t need parliament; they just write a command.

Come on Belinda, Paul - what do you take us for?

Stronach's unity cloth a little threadbare

Except that Stronach was hardly as concerned about unity when she set out to become leader of the Conservative party last year. Had she succeeded, she would have led her party in a campaign without having had the time to master enough French to hold her own in a leaders' debate.

It is hard to think of a swifter way to push angry Quebecers into the open arms of the Bloc than by presenting them with a federalist alternative to the Liberals led by someone who cannot address them in their own language. And yet, at the time, that never seemed to bother Stronach.

Since then, her ex-leader Stephen Harper has spent much time trying to make his party a presence in Quebec. Until the last few days, his former leadership rival, on the other hand, has obviously had other things than the federalist fortunes in Quebec on her mind.

Last week, Stronach was still unable to conduct media interviews in French, or even to answer simple questions in French at her news conference.

If Prime Minister Paul Martin had not handed Stronach the central role in the handling of the future recommendations of the Gomery commission, Stronach's French shortcomings would amount to an ironic footnote to last week's political soap opera.

But he has cast her at centre stage, in a post crucial to the redemption of the image of federalism in Quebec.

If the Liberals are serious about taking back Quebec from the Bloc, they will need to convince Quebecers and, indeed, all Canadians, that the federal government can mend its ways and second, that they are best placed to clean up a mess of their own making.

On that score, Stronach's inability to convey the message in French means she will not be much of an asset in Quebec.

That is a liability that is, sadly, not offset by the credentials she brings to her new mission.
