The 55-year-old said she was in "pure panic mode" the week following the election but is now just "devastated, disappointed, disheartened, and depressed by the reality of it."

Judging from what I've seen in the media I think a lot of people on the left went through something like this. Truly a fascinating phenomenon to watch. How can so many people be so naive? They must live an exceptionally cherished life, protected from any awareness of the nastiness that is out there in the real world.

I'd say probably close to half of my friends and acquaintances here in Seattle experienced some sort of life crisis as a reaction to Trump winning. Some quit high paying tech jobs to go be activists. Others became depressed, or simply had their personalities change to be more negative. Others merely became more political, constantly speaking out about left wing causes and the various social injustices they perceive. Many are no longer on speaking terms with their families, who they previously had good terms with, after realizing some of their family members either supported Trump or, in other cases, just weren't sufficiently opposed to Trump for their liking. 

Fascinating to watch as you say, but also kind of sad.
