Liberals 44, up 4

NDP 41, up 3

Greens 12, down 4

After the Vancouver Sun, the Province, all the radio and TV stations pumping for the Campbell Liberals, and the BC Campbell Liberal governemnt spending millions within the past few weeks, on a BC feel good advertising campaign, the Liberals must be quite disappointed and feeling dejected with the results.

Strange we never hear the business community complaining about that government waste. :(

.....You mean because they are leading?

You don't see the simlarities between our upcoming election and that of the previous American and Canadian federal election, with Carol James playing the part of a Stephen Harper or a John Kerry?

It all will come down to the BC NDP's lack of a platform, just like it did for Kerry and Harper.

You forget this is Canada not the US.

How Campbell ever got elected I'll never understand.

Oh that's right the smeared trumpted up charges against Glen Clark that never materialised.

James vs. Campbell: Approve or disapprove?

With the next provincial election little more than five months away, the B.C. New Democrats are preparing to take on the governing Liberals for political control of the province. In the battle for public approval, the parties remain in a statistical tie, according to new Ipsos-Reid polling.

The New Democrats should be called the comeback kids.

Amazingly the BC Campbell Liberals have squandered a 77 out of 79 seat majority in the election in 2001, and now are uncertain to win the next election.

She has the same explosive power as a tactical nuclear weapon

Is former provincial cabinet minister Christy Clark a ticking time bomb? That's the question some audience members were asking following this morning's Ipsos-Reid Corp. briefing on the upcoming election. The reason: during his presentation, BCTV legislative bureau chief Keith Baldrey told the assembled that Ms. Clark is "fundamentally unhappy with the direction government is taking but it's too early to be speaking out against the government." During his presentation, the television reporter also said the New Democrats were better organized on the ground than the Liberals and there was a real possibility the lefties could win the next election - although he added the New Democrats continue to be a divided party.

Have the Liberals had a leadership review yet? ;)

The governing BC Liberals are once again in command of the political scene in British Columbia, according to a poll by Mustel. 46 per cent of respondents in the Canadian province would vote for the Liberals in this year’s election, a six per cent increase since December.

Angus Reid

So, does this mean Campbell will get re-elected and the NDP types will go nuts?

What's the story?

A local political commentator Van Palmer did a good analysis this week.

Then NDP are strong in 20 ridings.

They have an outside chance in another 20 ridings.

They need 46 to form government.

For those NDPers the concern should be that this is a trend. They are trending down going into the election.

Carol James does not come across as personable or trustworthy. The BC Libs should have no problem as painting her as being in the pocket of the public sector unions.

Don't get me wrong, I hope that the NDP don't come close to winning. I am a small business owner in BC and them forming government terrifies me for the business confidence in the province. That is not rhetoric, and I am not alone.

Obviously, you are not a small business owner on Cambie street that have now discovered that Cambie street will be torn up and their businesses will probably go bankrupt for RAV. No compensation or pity for them. Particularly, unfair as everyone was being lead to believe that the street would be tunnelled underneath; it deprived them of lobbying against Rav during the three votes. If at first you don't get the vote you like; vote vote vote again. eh. Good luck, you and your small business could fall under their steam roller next. Campbell and his cronies are only concerned with big business.

caesar, I encourage our government to move forward the way they are. One can not govern with NIMBY attitudes. Sometimes you have to do what benefits the greatest number or you will be paralyzed with in action. No change will harm more than this change.

That cut and cover you talk of will save us tax payers $100 million. With that much savings we can afford to help the few business people along the way. Not to mention the rezoning of that land into a high density high rise corridor will make the land owners very rich when they redevelop with a commercial/residential mixed building all down Cambie. Access to the train will blossom into some great long term benefits. Clean air and mass transit.

Cut and cover was no secret, it has been on the table for years. Oh boy

 .

You got that right; the change we need is to rid ourselves of this present provincial government!!!!!

That my dear is nonsense; like everything this government does; nothing is ON the table; all is under the table.

I have knowen about this for 2 years and all I do is listen to cknw. It is and was always on the table.

Excellent, and it is why you'll be left whining and scratching your head again in a few months.

Perhaps if you paid less attention to mindless ideology and more to business, you'd have a clue.

The government should do something.

I know how and why he got elected; I won't understand if he gets re elected. We all pay taxes and government is supposed to represent us all; not just big business nor all the nepotism going on in government. His cuts to health care, children's ministries, womens rights and raises to all sorts of fees and licenses that paid for the tax cuts to his wealthy friends. The blown up media attention to Geln Clark's patio do not come close to the scandals facing this government. Campbell who previously demanded anyone with the possibility of a scandal to resign; did not take theat road when he himself was arrested for DUI in a foreign country. His forgiveness to fish farms for fines and rents owing is particularly alarming when we now discover that he has shares in fish farming, himself. The raid on the legislature; as yet not fully disclosed; has already led to charges of influence peddling and a grow operation against 2 ministerial aides; plus another drug addicted ministerial aid (Not positive but high rank government employee) arrested time and time again for drug possession. Then there is the cousin of Nancy Campbell; millions were forgiven to him illegally; he was under investigation for cheque kiting when hired. After his failure with thw software sold to our government

; hje is appointed to a children's aid job by the government. I could go on and on but I must walk my dogs.

Wow no wonder you are left with such a bitter taste in your mouth. Governments represent all the people who elected them to office, I have a hard time believing Die Hard Union people think they are being represented by the Liberals and I have a hard time believing they voted them to office . Quit with the Disney outlook on life, the Liberals are not perfect nor are they left wing, high taxes and create a new social program everyday kind of government. This govt. made all the tough decisions the NDP could never do and we are better off for it, they got provinical costs in line and as revenues increase more funding will be available for useful efficient programs.

The blown up media attention to Geln Clark's patio do not come close to the scandals facing this government.

Ya you keep overlooking Glens (NDP) indescretions and I'll overlook the Liberals, seems fair to me!!!

Campbell who previously demanded anyone with the possibility of a scandal to resign; did not take theat road when he himself was arrested for DUI in a foreign country.

If I was given a nickel for everytime a politician was asked to resign I would be rich man. This is something asked by politicians of all ends of the spectrum, rarely is this advice taken. I think I am gonna ask Carole James to resign so the NDP could put forth a leader with a chance at making a difference. Will she take my advice Caesar?

As for the rest of your post its the same old same old. Hey Caesar are you going to vote Liberal, I am not sure!!!

NO???????? How about the gas taxes, health premiums, etc and cuts to our health services???? How come they drove up our deficit despite the sell off of all our assets???

I repeat; Compared to Campbell and the scandals of this government; Glen Clark looks like a boy scout.

Gas taxes, hell I hate them but then again I do have a choice on whether to drive my car as much or buy a vehicle that is fuel efficient. I am all for these kinds of comsumption taxes over income taxation which you can never avoid if you legally hold a job.

Cuts to our health care is great idea until the system becomes more efficient. I would rather spend X billions on health care then 2X billion and get the exact same results. The system needs to be reworked and throwing money at a money eating machine is stupid.

The deficit is going to be eventually paid off (the Liberals actually have aplan to do that), what a novel idea, start payments now so future generations are not burdened with the future debt and absolutely no social services. Or would you rather you get all the services now and leave your younger family members with none.

Yes you can repeat again and again that Glen was an angel compared to ol Gordo, but no one really cares and you will see that fact, as the majority of us BCers vote the Liberals back into office. We realize that unlike Glen Clark, the Liberals give us something to look forward too, as they have already set the wheels in motion for the province to move forward. The key difference between Liberals and NDP, the Liberals have significantly better grasp of economics.

Hmmm as for Carole James; perhaps it is time we elected a female leader. Perhaps then we can have one premier that doesn't end up facing criminal prosecution.

Here is a really sad post (Caesar I almost think that you are a woman with this comment), why do WE need a WOMAN elected, how about somebody who can do the job. I am trying to figure out how a woman would do a better job by not having male gentalia and I cannot for the life of me figure this one out.
