?Impact Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 Old guy here, never learned to skateboard. Has anyone got any experience with electric longboards that seem to be emerging for commuters? The claimed range is up to 8-12 miles, and of course that could be extended by pushing. This might be just right for 6 months of the year or so. I am seeing them on the bike paths in the city. The range should be good for a large percentage of commuters, and those coming in from the suburbs could use it to get to the train. Boards are small enough to fit on trains, and bring into the office and store under the desk. I don`t know what the recharge time is, but if it is less than the workday you would be ready for the ride home. Sounds like a great way to address many of the issues around energy/emissions associated with commuting. Quote

Boges Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 Well it can't make you look like any bigger a loser than riding an E-Bike. Quote
Big Guy Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 You will break a hip. Get an adult tricycle. Tried one for a while. Not a good idea. Had to get someone to create a series of gears for different conditions and the turning radius will put you into an oncoming lane. Carrier only has room for a 12 pack. The kid has the best motorized toys, though he is also rather plump which may be related. I am also old but long boards are easy to ride, though I was a low level skater back in the 90's. Still, I see E-bikes or even the tiny 2-stroke motor additions to regular bikes as a better option for commuting. Tried one for a while. Not a good idea. How will we ever win if the carbon free and active options can't haul an appropriate amount of booze? Edited September 24, 2016 by Guest Quote
Michael Hardner Posted September 24, 2016 Report Posted September 24, 2016 A young friend of mine had a devastating accident on his longboard and now in his early 20s he has brain damage and issues for life that will prevent him from working. Be safe. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
