Argus Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 then you're in the minority. No, he's actually in the great majority. Pipelines rarely leak. There are stories of leaks regularly because there's like a million miles of pipeline. He's in the minority if he doesn't have a problem with it. Everyone who doesn't want a pipeline nearby who volunteers to never use oil or gas can vote against it then. The rest of you... no. That includes growing your own food, btw, since food is shipped into stores by trucks which uses gas. You also have to make your own clothes and shoes from scratch for a similar reason, nor can you use any electrical products since they also move by truck. I'm not one of the people against pipelines. People can vote and think as they feel is right, and not the way you think that they should. Quote
The_Squid Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 The NEB secret meeting with lobbyists may have set this back by years. They are also responsible for all these years of process costing millions of dollars to be just flushed down the toilet. More from the Harper legacy of appointees gone wrong. Quote
cybercoma Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 Everyone who doesn't want a pipeline nearby who volunteers to never use oil or gas can vote against it then. This is as stupid as the argument that socialists should stop following capitalism. It's impossible because that's the system we live under. Just as we're dependent on oil and gas. People have every right to criticize the system when it has huge problems that should be addressed, even while they live under it. Quote

jacee Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 (edited) Well then, it should be easy for him to stand up for the NEB process on energy east, call out radicals for interrupting it,The NEB was not interrupted by "radicals".The NEB interrupted itself, by behaving in a manner biased in favour of the pipeline. It can only be assumed that was longstanding practice. That gravy train is over. http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/energy-east-panel-steps-down-neb-to-find-replacements-1.3065672 . PIK Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 Jacee most people want energy east, it is a smart thing to do. I was reading a story on pipelines and it mention a derailment that spilled oil in central Toronto, I read a lot of news and never heard that one. Media starting to keep these things quiet?? Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
jacee Posted September 16, 2016 Report Posted September 16, 2016 Turns out you're right about protesters interrupting ? http://www.nationalobserver.com/2016/09/15/news/boss-pipeline-regulator-joked-about-giving-neb-staff-tasers-after-montreal-protest The security breakdown appears to have annoyed senior management to the point that its top bureaucrat joked at a staff meeting that the regulators employees should be armed with tasers at public hearings. NEB says Taser joke taken out of context ... But her ill-timed attempt at humour is likely to add some fresh ammunition for critics who believe the National Energy Board is too cozy with industry and in need of a complete overhaul. They just keep shooting themselves in the foot. . Quote
