Elections Canada offered a sole sourced contract worth nearly $1 million to the Assembly of First Nations to engage in voter outreach even as key members of the organization made highly partisan statements calling for the defeat of the Conservative government.

Documents obtained through access to information detail a contract worth up to $975,000 that included a clause calling for the AFN to be non-partisan while acting as a supplier of services to Elections Canada. Under a listing of “Minimum Essential Requirements” in the statement of work, Elections Canada included this statement, “Certification that they are able to comply with an avoidance of political partisanship provision.”

Despite the provision, key leaders of the AFN called for the Conservative Party to be thrown from power even as the organization they represented was working for Elections Canada to increase voter turnout among aboriginal voters.

Several of the comments were made from the main podium at the AFN annual general meeting in Montreal last July and reported on by major media outlets.More...

How 3rd world is this? Elections canada has been run by the liberals way to long now and it needs to be gutted and possible charges laid. And has all the liberal candidates ever pay back there loans for a couple of elections ago?

Elections Canada, like Foreign Affairs and Heritage Canada, has always demonstrated a very pronounced preference for Liberals. One of the mistakes the Tories made was not cleaning them out when they took office.

I understand what u are saying but even if the FN never mentioned voting against the Tories, I'm pretty sure the outcome would have been the same. Most voters wanted the Tories gone, especially the FN. I can't see EC giving a contract being illegal but who knows.

Natives seldom voted and this made sure they did, and they voted liberal. And why not when trudeau says to the chiefs that would not show where the money went, don't worry spend away and I wont ask.

I heard the chief of the Gun Owners of America yesterday explain that the only way to prevent a government from being taken over is an armed citizenry.

To bad the Tories didn't highlight that threat when they were in power.

To be fair, the younger generation of FN, were becoming more political active and I think they would have come out and voted. If they didn't vote for the Tories its probably they felt the Tories were not doing enough.

So you support the sole source contract being awarded, and the money being paid when the contractor failed to abide by the contract?

You scrambled that all up, and it is still pathetic.

Science too hard for you? Try religion!

It's definitely pathetic alright and I didn't scramble anything up at all. You can hear it from the horse's ass yourself since you don't believe me.

The NRA, Fox News, Fox News (again), Alex Jones, email chains, Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher, Gun Owners of America, etc., all agree that gun control was critical to Hitler’s rise to power.

I think what you and the Gun Owners meant was that the only thing keeping the government from taking over was an armed citizenry. You said the opposite. It's a common theme among some Americans , and the basis of the Second Amendment.

You're welcome.

Perhaps someday your post will be linked in some way to this thread.

The link was established when it was claimed the Liberal Party had taken over Elections Canada, Foreign Affairs and Heritage Canada etc.

No need to thank me for setting you straight.

You still have time to go back and edit your mistake in post 8.
