On Guard for Thee Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 sigh tar is for roads. we have oil sands. I guess the world should be suing Scotland every time a person gets a DUI while drinking scotch. If it was oil sands, we wouldn't have to put 3 btu's worth of steam through it to get 1 btu worth of heat energy out of it. Quote
waldo Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 "tarsands is the industry originated name... a marketing wizard thought it more apropos to re-brand as "oil sands"... http://www.eurobitume.eu/bitumen/what-bitumen purrfect! Thankee... an easy play to flush out the talking/politicization point you plied. Let's see what happens when I add the word "sands": what would you call bitumenious sands? Cause the oil industry originated the name "tarsands" in the 30s... as I said, marketing wizards (from the Alberta Chamber of Commerce, no less) introduced the name "oil sands" in 1995... and up until the last 10 years or so, both terms regularly appeared without the big-time politicization move. Why are you helping to politicize this, hey drummer? Quote
