waldo Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Speaking of responsibility, what is the final dollar count for sending nearly 400 partyhounds delegates to Paris? I would guess a minimum of $10k to $20K per, excluding security bills and cost of aircraft. Would $40 to $80 million sound right? Oh, and the carbon footprint... number includes significant personnel numbers from media, industry and security concerns... I look forward to you highlighting which media and industry personnel rode the 'federal dime'. As I highlighted earlier in presenting a link to respective country 'provisional lists' of attendees, when compared to the U.S. list (for example), only the Canadian list included personnel from media/industry/security. In regards the standard talking point on the 'flying carbon footprint', in the big picture... it's mice nuts... it's less than fuzz on mice nuts!!! You know... the big picture. Quote
drummindiver Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 China, India.and Indonesia. Yeah, but we need to be carbon taxed, https://news.vice.com/article/indonesias-fires-are-emitting-more-carbon-pollution-than-the-entire-us-economy Quote
dre Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 The intent is to obfuscate and confuse and try to channel the conversation into esoteric realms few understand and away from simple numbers like 0.144% of world emissions, or the fact India plans to increase their emissions by all of what we currently produce every year for two decades, or the massive cost involved to our economy, or the fact all we're really doing is driving manufacturing away from Canada and over to China or Thailand or Mexico. I manage outsourcing projects for a living and I can tell you that taxes and environmental regulations are relatively small factors. The elephant in the room is the cost of labor. It can be as low as 1/20th of what it is here or in the US. So talking about some tiny carbon tax is rather besides the point. We would have bled manufacturing jobs even if we cut taxes to zero, and no environmental regulations at all. Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
Shady Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 This new deal is historic and significant. Climate change has been solved. I don't want to hear any more about it now. Quote
