Well that, and leaked NDP documents that state they have no idea how they'll pay for their promises......

You always get your facts from the Liberal Party website? LOL

I guess you must think Trudeau "just isn't ready" and that he has "nice hair though"...

Geez Derek... try a little harder... I know there isn't the ammunition like there is against CPC policies/actions/legislation, but this is lame.

In 'Murica, we call this an "October Surprise", except that the NDP did it to itself.

And the Tories and Liberals will gladly remind them of it... ;)

lmao. You're taking the Liberal Party website as a credible resource on secret leaked NDP documents. Jesus that's desperate, even for a rabid tory partisan.

Desperate? The Tories and Liberals (and MSM) have been asking for weeks how the NDP would pay for their billions in promises.....this only confirms it.....they can't.

Oh no...it's election time in Canada, and I want to bloviate about all the fun stuff like NDP "manifestos".

You know, just how y'all do about U.S. politics.

Most people agree that there needs to be movement towards sustainability. It's only radical among the most seriously partisan CPCers who think any concern for the environment is communism.

But the NDP did nothing to itself because this isn't an NDP document and no one, save for the OP, is framing it as such. I thought you were a better student of Canadian politics that you would have gotten that on your own.

Considering the policies are costed over years and the Tories managed to scrape up a $2 Billion surplus this year, despite torching revenues, that should give you a clue.

Have they been costed? Why does the NDP refuse to release said costings for public consumption?

Guess you were wrong...again. See, in politics, it doesn't matter if its an NDP document or not. They still have to waste time and resources 'walking it back'. Especially after the media takes hold and runs with it.

The link is quoting a CTV story....

I just watched the CTV story. I don't see how it supports what you or the Liberal Party are saying. This was the CTV quote:

“Mulcair has promised to increase health care transfer payments to the provinces, but has never said when or by how much. Now, CTV News has obtained documents containing part of the NDP platform and still no details about those payments… Mulcair has already announced a multi-billion dollar plan to improve infrastructure and transit in cities across the country. But according to the leaked platform documents, provinces will have to wait until the end of the first mandate to get the bulk of the funding.”

This does NOT say "they have no idea how they'll pay for their promises". It says "they have not specified the size of the increase to health care transfers" and "most of the funding for infrastructure will actually come towards the end of the first mandate". Whether or not those are good things is up for debate but I think the Liberals are misrepresenting things. It's ESPECIALLY rich for Jean "Red Book" Chrétien to comment on parties making expensive promises during a campaign that they can't follow through on

Answer me this, Derek. When are you going to change misleading title of this thread, as there isn't a single "prominent" NDPer on that list?

Not my thread.

Not to mention Mulcair has already committed to meeting with the provinces to discuss their healthcare funding needs. That's been the biggest criticism against Harper--he makes unilateral decisions without the cooperating parties.

So it confirms the NDP hasn't figured out how they will pay for their promises.......or have they? If so, when will the NDP release their costings for their platform?

For the supporter of a party that ran back to back to back to back to back to back deficits and saw the country into a second recession, don't suddenly pretend like you're concerned about how to pay for stuff.

It states that one promise has been vague (although cybercoma has given an explanation) and the other will be delayed. That doesn't confirm what you suggest it does. I don't know yet how they plan to pay for everything (although they have mentioned some tax changes that should generate revenue).

If so, when will the NDP release their costings for their platform?

This is supposed to come on Thursday, according to the same CTV story.

I actually do take issue with the way the NDP has removed their old policy book, especially before posting a platform and with the vagueness of their commitments so far. And I even agree that it does not seem that clear so far how their promises can be paid for. However, I also take issue with framing a story as that the NDP's internal documents essentially confess that they don't even have an idea themselves, when the substance of the story does not support that.

I enjoy American politics... I have no issues with discussing them... never have. Everyone, foreign or domestic, can have opinions about any country's politics.

You seem to also enjoy Canadian politics. Nothing wrong with that at all. It's your hypocrisy that is at issue.

Thank you for your kind understanding. It's the least I can do but to pay attention to our neighbours north of the border as they choose Canada's next ruling party or coalition. Canadian politics are so exciting !

I don't really care what you do or don't think about politics or whether you pay attention... just pointing out the blatant hypocrisy of your position.
