End the Harper Government: My views on Canada's democracy

Recommended Posts

Harper has a twisted view of "democracy" in my opinion. What real democracy allows torture or secret court hearings or allows people to be kidnapped?

Of course real democracy can allow that. Are you saying Israeli or Palestinian elections are somehow undemocratic because they have consistently produced governments that view the citizens of the opposing states as subhuman monsters worthy of attack and extermination?

I demand a government and political representatives that are at least somewhat honest, that will put their country above their own career aspirations, above their own re-election, above getting what they politically want at all costs.

Buuuut not really. Neither Mulcair nor Trudeau have shown they are particularly honest, and both have shown that they put their own party and career aspirations ahead of all else.

So clearly this "DEMAND" underlined, is negotiable.

I demand a government that respects our democracy, and our constitution.

That's meaningless twaddle.

I want MP's and a PM that would rather do the right thing and be willing to lose their jobs rather than keep their job if it means needing to do the dishonest/undemocratic thing.

Seriously, do you want ice cream with that? It's all well and good to be naive when you're twelve, but get serious. Have a look at the behaviour of the last, say, twenty or thirty governments in Canadian and provincial history and tell me which one lived up to your grandiose vison.

Not one here.
