so... in your substantive assessment, you take the view that any form of corruption... is just politics! Now that's substance!

No, I'm against corruption. I'm just not in favour of labeling everything Harper does that I dislike as 'corruption'.

Care to list what it is that he has done that is corrupt in your mind?

Him personally? Nothing I'm aware of.

To me, corruption involves money for personal benefit. If you're funneling government money into your pockets or those of your friends or campaign donators, that's corruption. If you're giving contracts to firms for work which isn't need or is overpriced, that's borderline corruption. The closest thing I'd say this government has done would be too much self-congratulatory advertising.

Compared to what previous governments did, that's almost nothing.

I'd say lying or breaking a promise is corrupt and that arguing "but but but previous governments" is corrupt too.

Find me a politician who doesn't lie and break promises. If you use that as a yardstick then all politicians are corrupt, including the ones you want to bring in to replace the current group.

Dalton McGuinty actually signed a written pledge with a taxpayer group to not raise taxes. Then, after he got elected, raised taxes. The group took him to court, and the court basically said all politicians lie and can't be held to any promises.

The system of governance we place our politicians in guarantees corruption. That's what I want to replace.

Yep, and most Canadians, like you, are still saying loud and clear "thank you mi' lords and ladies can we have some more please".

And yet, in fact, you have no idea how to replace it with anything which would be different, and no power to do so either.

Of course I do, just none that you like is all, and I don't see Ottawa packing Muslims into containers and shipping them out yet so don't try to pretend you're having any better luck getting your way than anyone else around here.

I haven't proposed shipping Muslims out. I've proposed not shipping them in.

I've proposed not shipping them in.

Threatening to close the gates will only cause a panicked rush towards them.

Thousands are being killed as we speak in the stampede.

It's a tricky one because the better the detection mechanisms are, the more corruption we will seem to have. I think we are doing pretty well in most parts of the country.
