Keepitsimple Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) His reasoning is pretty obvious for any recently married family man with a child that has special needs. There's more to life than politics. When you have 166 MPs, it makes sense 15 or 20% might not run - age, burn-out, family commitments - it's basic math. In spite of the headlines, there's better ways to make a lot more money for the majority of MPs. Wouldn't be surprised to see Moore back in a few years under Jason Kenney if he can find a way to balance his family. Edited June 19, 2015 by Keepitsimple Quote Back to Basics
Vancouver King Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Family considerations, pension considerations or the 10 year itch, they are all acceptable excuses for what is becoming the looming specter - defeat in the October election. WWWTT What a pile of you know what, ..who says they are 'written off' - after 15 years and 5 terms he needs to be there for his young disabled child who has just developed health issues. Maybe you wouldn't want to be there for him but principled caring people would be there for their special needs child. Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province

I can see 3-4% of MP (including the senate) stepping down for some reason or other. Including this one! However, he's not stepping down right away is he? He's not running for reelection! Also, he is vague of details. There are many parents whom have children/family members with special needs and they still hold down full time jobs. If this guy wanted, he could ask Harper to give his cabinet position to another MP. I'm sure Harper would understand. No? WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! On Guard for Thee Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 I suspect a lot of these front benchers are heading out to feather their nests before the October defeat which is looming. Quote
WWWTT Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) I suspect a lot of these front benchers are heading out to feather their nests before the October defeat which is looming. There's probably a lot of inside polling going on right now within the conservative ranks that are painting a very bad picture of their future career in conservative politics. What we are seeing is the conservative politicians whom have an good opportunity outside politics rethinking their future. It's not easy running for office! And from what I have seen, the conservatives (actually all 3 parties) like to attract candidates that can pull in money. And from what I hear, this election is going to need more than that, it's going to take a lot of door knocking and grass roots efforts and time spent locally!!!! And that means work! And a hell of a lot of F'N work! These conservatives leaving the party that we see now are all lazy ass dog f#$$! These guys have had a life of entitlement and probably have never worked an honest day in their life. And that's never going to change! Even if it meant staying in politics! That's a part of the reason why I prefer the NDP over the other two. Many candidates(not all) work their f'n asses off to earn the vote! Enough said! Topaz Posted June 20, 2015 Author Report Posted June 20, 2015 Since the Tory party did vote for Chong's chances to the House, maybe some of them can't deal with Harper for another four years and there is also, the gun man that went after Harper and scared many of the MPs. Quote
