msj Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 Tampons will finally get the GST treatment they deserve: none. From just a vague promise to eliminated in the time one says: election 2015. Good politics. Now if only they could nix that damn pipeline.... bush_cheney2004 Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 Sounds like a winner.....women will use over 10,000 tampons on average over a lifetime. I keep a box of tampons and maxi-pads in the garage for oil leaks. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
msj Posted May 29, 2015 Author Report Posted May 29, 2015 Yes, women are hard on the environment. Maybe a carbon tax to replace the GST? bush_cheney2004 Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 Looks like owning a vagina can get pretty expensive, including the cost of tampons, pads, and associated taxes. http://jezebel.com/5890058/this-is-how-much-it-costs-to-own-a-vagina-an-itemized-list Probably costs even more in Canada ! Topaz Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 This won't get him any votes from women who wouldn't vote for the Tories because it was the NDP idea and the NDP have kinder programs towards Canadians than the Tories. Quote
AngusThermopyle Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 What is it about tampons that sparks your interest, especially Canadian tampons. Actually BC is 100% correct. They can be extremely usefull because they're so absorbent. I guess you wouldn't know anything about that though. Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye
AngusThermopyle Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 It should also be mentioned that they make an excellent addition to first aid kits. They're pretty good field dressings in a pinch. Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye
bush_cheney2004 Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 (edited) Good point....they are sterile and absorb many times their weight. We also used maxi-pads and disposable diapers in prototype torpedo hulls on the Nanoose range to absorb small leaks that got past the O-rings. Tampons are also good for starting fires in survival mode. I'm old enough to remember when we didn't have widespread use of tampons....not pretty ! That's where all the Kotex jokes came from. bush_cheney2004 Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 Maybe I will drive to some Canadian border town on July 1 and buy some tax free American tampons. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
cybercoma Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 (edited) Maybe I will drive to some Canadian border town on July 1 and buy some tax free American tampons. You could have done that any time if you lived in Michigan (maybe it's the same across the US?). You just declare your goods at the border and the taxes are refunded. Edited May 29, 2015 by cybercoma Quote

WestCoastRunner Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 I have seen no reason to increase taxes for single female parents. Shady, you can contribute when you feel justified. bush_cheney2004 Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 I buy feminine hygiene products on a regular basis...my wife just tells me to pick some items up. Never noticed whether they were taxed or not. When I was single stud, I always kept a well stocked guest bathroom for the visiting ladies....tooth brushes....shampoo....scented soaps....razors...and pads/tampons. Many women will carry a tampon or two in their purse, but they still said it was very thoughtful and sensitive. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
