NDP rat jumping ship or wise politician joining a winner?

Yes, Glenn is currently an elected federal NDP representative who was elected in the Layton wave and now is part of (what appears to be ) a disintegrating Mulcair party. He has decided to run in the coming provincial by election - under the Liberal banner. The next federal election is expected in 2015 while the Ontario Liberals have a majority for the next 4 years.

Thank you for your interest.

Isn't that nice. Looks like the taxpayer will foot the bill for a Federal Byelection now that Thibault has stepped down - unless the seat is left vacant until the next federal election. Either way, his constituents are left holding the bag. Wonder if he'll get severence. And of course, Wynne is party to - if not the instigator of this distasteful, near fraud on the public.

Thilbeaut was elected as a federal MP in the 2008 election. As of October, (A few weeks ago) he had served six years - long enough to be eligible for the MP pension plan.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation estimates that over the course of his lifetime, Glenn could collect more than $1 million in pension benefits. He will receive an annual pension of $30,436 when he turns 55 in 2024 and that amount will be fully indexed from the age of 65.

Yeah but what this guy get in taxpayers MP pension is nothing compared to the present seating front bench MP's are going to get in their live time. The PM will get 6 million but he said he would give up 2 mil, yeah right.

So, any excuse for someone of your political persuasion?

Not sure what that means, and when did the PM say he would 'give up 2 mil' Any current MP who gets re-elected in 2015 will see a drop in pension as the new rules kick in,

Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province

Everyone has a right to join whatever political party they want.... It doesn't make them "rats". That's just idiotic. If people in the riding have an issue with this politician's tactics, they can make that determination at the polls.

However, this is another problem with Canada's first past the post system where people tend to vote for the party, rather than the individual. If there was a more democratic system, individuals may echo me more important than party affiliation.
