Castro ROCKS!

Even Cuba hasn't been Communist for quite some time. Sure, they still use the word to describe the name of the ruling party, but capitalism is alive and well on that island. They had no choice, socialism means poverty continues to increase over time. The only way to help people out is to have as wide of a spread of inequality as possible. People who have a lot more are an absolute requirement to be able to support those who are unable to provide for themselves.

Oh and by the way, your FEEBLE STRAWMAN still doesn't answer the question of why the economy of capitalistic countries has never and never will match that of China.

That's just sheer volume. They have a lot more people, and it adds up. On a per capita basis, China isn't really that strong economically. Our per capita GDP is five times bigger than theirs. Even Mexico's is bigger.

Wouldn't say THE most important for maintaining a democracy but I really don't have an argument about the importance of a good education.

I would even argue it is THE most important part of government. I know heath care is very important but one is not always sick. We all need a good education. I do feel better about my taxes towards teachers salaries than the waste of skin that is the school boards and teachers unions.

Teacher unions fight for good working conditions for teachers which leads to better outcomes for learners.

Thankful to have become a free thinker.

Except the teachers immediately no longer complain once they are given a raise Hardly a selfless act.

Look at the charges the Toronto School board racked up for minor repairs so their union buddies could rack up their wallets.Money that comes out of the classroom for the students.

http://campaignforpubliceducation.ca/globe-goes-after-tdsbs-labour-costs/

Than the Ontario Liberal Government forced Toronto School board to sign back up with the trades council to appease the union

These practices actually take money away from the students. That is you union dues at work.

Just in case you needed more examples of unions showing more concern for the union than the needs of the students.

Every single comment I have made about education has indeed been with the students education in mind.

I read what you posted but there where times I don't think you did.

The 4 C's talked about enriching the 3 R's not giving up on them.

I showed you proof that there is an issue with the math curriculum. Never once did I seriously disrespect teachers.

My issue is the teachers unions which is giving the profession a bad name.

About the original post:

The problem with that exercise, is it's not how things work. In the market, as in the classroom, we do not require that those at the back of the class remain seated. They are free to get up and walk down the aisle to get a closer shot at that wastebasket.

I see. Other than our opposite views on many things I have no problem with you.

I don't have a problem with anyone. I fight for social justice and diversity. People who dislike me for that aren't worth my time.

I could care less about the spelling.

You have interesting views but rarely explain or defend them. You post articles sure but not why you agree with them

Instead you have a habit of a cheap one liner or pointing out a grammar issue.

That is beneath the great arguments and different opinions I have seen on this sight.

It's "I couldn't care less".

If you could care less, it means that you care a greater amount than you might about other things, ie. you care.

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very Liberal Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken back, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn’t even have time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many college friends, because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked , ‘How is your friend Audrey doing?’ She replied, ‘Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She Is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She’s always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn’t even show up for classes because she’s too hung over.’

Her wise father asked his daughter, ‘Why don’t you go to the Dean’s office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA, and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.’ The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back, ‘That’s a crazy idea, how would that be fair? I’ve worked really hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!’

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, ‘Welcome to The Republican party.’

Always liked this one

Not a single person is arguing for absolute equality. That's just a convenient strawman that people who don't want to actually address the issues like to create. The better allegory in that situation above is that the teacher actually spends their time helping the person who is struggling to get better grades, while the other gets less help because she quite simply doesn't need it. It's not about giving everyone equal grades. It's about helping those who have barriers through no fault of their own overcome them.

It's the excuse of every communist. That communism has never been "properly" implemented. Classic!

If you actually understood communism or ever cracked a book by Marx, you would understand that it hasn't. You would see why the states that implemented it were never going to be successful because it's not about ideology. It's about material relations.

That a boy Bryan, keep twisting socialism until you find it acceptable and palatable enough to sleep at night!

Obviously no ones going to convince you of anything so whenever you come across about the fantastic health care or education system, it's full power to the blinders and/or sour grapes/sweet lemon denial inferior complex!

Pretty much the same thing with China.

Lets forget the fact that I was stating that there economy was climbing at a never before seen in the history of mankind astounding rate!

Instead, it's full power to the STRAWMAN!!!!

False!

This phrase is called an "idiom".

Doesn't have to be logical.

Also, language can be an art form where many rules are twisted, bent and /or outright broken!

Feeble waste of time debating this, move on everyone, nothing to see hear or read here.

What the hell are you talking about, and how does any of that relate to my post that you quoted?

In what way am I "twisting" socialism? What exactly is it that I'm supposed to be denying about Cuba?

There were no strawmen in my post, so I can only assume you don't actually know what that means.

  • Socialism: You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbour.

Communism: You have two cows. You give them to the government, and the government then gives you some milk.

Fascism: You have two cows. You give them to the government, and the government then sells you some milk.

Capitalism: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.

Nazism: You have two cows. The government takes both and shoots you.

New Dealism: You have two cows. The government takes both, shoots one, buys milk from the other cow, then pours the milk down the drain.
