Damn right they should be, but the Conservatives are against a full and thorough review of travel and other perks, I wonder why? Since they hold the major nothing can be done now, but that should be one of the items in the elections.

MP's should be audited to the full extent that the Conservative government proposes auditing First Nations.

Any fully or largely government funded entity should be completely transparent to the taxpayer. The books for every government agency and native reservation (other than those that do not accept government funds if any) should be online at all times for anyone to see.

Agreed. Anywhere that tax dollars go, people should have the right to know.

So you think those on social assistance should have their personal finances posted on the internet? They receive tax dollars. How about people on OAS or GIS? What about researchers who are conducting confidential research and their spending could undermine confidentiality by identifying their participants? What about when tax dollars go to women who've suffered domestic violence and helps to relocate them?

Anyway, I don't think it's as simple as anywhere tax dollars go, people should know.

The AG should audit and nothing would become public unless they overspent or use tax dollars where they shouldn't. MP's are federal civil servants, not rich and famous, and should be treated like any other worker for a government.

You're right I'm more thinking about the various levels of government, we deserve to know how much of our tax dollars go towards confidential research or to old age security and that happens to an extent, how that money is spent is not needed. What we really need is 100% transparency when it comes to MP's, Senators and the Cabinet. Government grants should always be reported on to the extent that we know how much is being allocated for any research and to what person, group of people or company it goes to. Right now in the treasury web site, I have looked numerous times, it only really shows a section for each department titled "Government Grants & Contributions". We have no way of knowing, at least to my knowledge, of where that money went. I don't need to know what they spent it on, that is their business, but it would be nice to know whom is receiving it and maybe a brief description of why. Even if it says "Top Secret Research Program." At least we know.

If we were just able to stop the theft by big gov't taxes would be a non issue or at least not as high on the list.

Maybe not anywhere, but there are a lot of places that it should be audited that it isn't.

Yeah I believe MPs should be audited, I think all government bureaus should be audited, and also First Nations reserve chiefs.

If our tax dollars are going to it, we have a right to know what it's being spent on.

However currently there is no party really calling for it, maybe NDP, but they would never audit government bureaus or First Nation reserve chiefs.
