Shady Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 While we're at it, Shady, why did 3 Tories vote to support the motion? I couldn't care less why 3 tories supported it. Quote
BubberMiley Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Even if the absurd notion that relevance is relative were true, the Speaker has the power to be subjective in enforcing what he considers to be relevant. That has always been the case and no one has considered it to be absurd yet. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet
cybercoma Posted October 3, 2014 Author Report Posted October 3, 2014 I couldn't care less about him. I'm talking about the bigger picture, and the absurdity of policing language that's usually subjective. It's assinine. No, of course you couldn't because it makes your point look downright silly. Shady Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 No, of course you couldn't because it makes your point look downright silly. Not at all. In fact, I don't think it's even relevant to the point I'm making. Quote
cybercoma Posted October 3, 2014 Author Report Posted October 3, 2014 Not at all. I mean, it's all subjective, right? Quote
Shady Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Tell me this then, do you think they should throw out the rule about relevance when it comes to the questions being asked? I mean, it's all subjective, right? Yes. They should be allowed to ask any question they wish. They can be held accountable for their questions by their constituents. Having said that, not any question has to be answered. Quote
cybercoma Posted October 3, 2014 Author Report Posted October 3, 2014 Right. So as long as you have accountability once every 4-5 years. That's all you need then? Given the average lifespan of a Canadian, 11 opportunities to hold the government and opposition accountable is totally cool with you? Quote

Democracy should not be something that happens once every 4 (or so) years. Quote
cybercoma Posted October 3, 2014 Author Report Posted October 3, 2014 Democracy should not be something that happens once every 4 (or so) years.Well, questions shouldn't have to have anything to do with government business and the answers don't have to be related to the questions at all. Why even have a parliament? Quote
PrimeNumber Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 Well, questions shouldn't have to have anything to do with government business and the answers don't have to be related to the questions at all. Why even have a parliament? Sounds a lot like fascism to me. A government that isn't accountable to it's people or elected officials in any way. Let's call it the Fourth Reich. Quote “Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find your way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”― Bruce Lee
