WWWTT Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 I guess if there was anything concrete coming from the search, this story wouldn't be worth posting. Oh well. Lets see what tomorrow brings. On Guard for Thee Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 I'd be looking at sueing for wrongful dismissal, maybe. I have no idea if the company has a dress code. I'm used to a dress code and abided by it, but I've also spent many hours in a sim and I didn't wear my uniform and nobody else did or cared. You have no pax in a simulator and usually when you are there you are on your time off. Not in his case perhaps. However to address your original comment I would concur that oceanographers will be quite happy to recieve the info the Bluefin turns up even though it is a small area relatively speaking. Quote
Wilber Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 If he was warned maybe he should listen a bit more. He was representing his employer on national TV and prospective customers could very well be watching. I've been in a lot of different company's sims and never had to wear a uniform but a proper shirt, slacks and shoes were the accepted dress, not T shirts, jeans and sneakers. WWWTT Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Ok now, back to the lawsuit brewing over this lost plane. https://news.yahoo.com/filed-plane-lawsuits-might-not-heard-us-083559455--finance.html From the link above, we can clearly see that this could end up over 1 billion mark. Not sure what will materialize. One big lawsuit, or numerous individuals, or one big payout verses numerous smaller payouts. I'm suspecting that the airline wants this hush hush soon, so I'm guessing the threat of lawsuits will be followed by out of court payout. WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! guyser Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Ok now, back to the lawsuit brewing over this lost plane. What lawsuit? There isnt one yet. From the link above, we can clearly see that this could end up over 1 billion mark.It would appear, obviously to me, that you didnt even read that link if you are saying the above. How about minimum payouts instead as the article discusses ? Quote
WWWTT Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 What lawsuit? There isnt one yet. It would appear, obviously to me, that you didnt even read that link if you are saying the above. How about minimum payouts instead as the article discusses ? Never said there was one yet either. Why? Who said there was a lawsuit? And what court was the lawsuit filed at? Better yet what country, by whom, and who are the plaintiff's and who are the defendant's? Also what's obvious to you, is just that, to you. And yes the minimum payout is there in the link. If you want to discuss that, then go ahead. If you don't mind, I'm not really interested in the minimum payout. WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! WestCoastRunner Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 CNN has moved on to Horseshoe Bay, British Columbia inside a submersible machine to illustrate what the searchers are going through. WWWTT Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 CNN has moved on to Horseshoe Bay, British Columbia inside a submersible machine to illustrate what the searchers are going through. First Toronto, now BC. Not unusual. CNN has a big audience in Canada, they know what side the toast is buttered on! Having some Canadian content and openness to their northern neighbour is welcomed. There was a republican supporter on CNN about 10 years ago (wore a bow tie all the time) who made some harsh comments about Canada, even calling the country a banana republic or something like that. He ended up not getting his contract renewed soon after that! But Canada is not even involved in the search??? WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! WestCoastRunner Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 I don't believe they are. Not much we can offer Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou
WWWTT Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 I don't believe they are. Not much we can offer I was very disappointed about this fact! We should of at least had one ship with a helicopter there!!! There were two Canadians on board that plane, and we have a responsibility to help Canadians wherever they are in the world! Not to mention the number of Canadians that need to use long haul air flight transportation and the geography of our country. As well, search and rescue is very underrated and needs to be beefed up! Starting right here at home! Shame on Canada for not having a more active participating role in the search! I know not many people here care about this, but I believe that others here have lost sight of what is important to this country and this is a good place to start redefining Canada! WWWTT Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Why do we need to start redefining Canada? search and rescue is a good way to focus our military peacefully. We could regain a strong international name. Canada really dropped the ball over this Malaysia flight and I blame Harper! Harper should have got involved right from the start, but instead he rather do press interviews about sending fighter jets to beef up NATO in eastern Europe! As far as I'm concerned Harper=War pig! WestCoastRunner Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 We probably weren't asked by the Malaysian government to help in the search. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou
WWWTT Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 We probably weren't asked by the Malaysian government to help in the search. If we weren't then we should have offered! I doubt that Malaysia would refuse an offer to help from Canada. I had this discussion some pages earlier and apparently our navy is hurting so we are not in any position to help. I'm disappointed. This is an issue we shouldn't depend on other countries to bale us out on. WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! WestCoastRunner Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Well, we certainly don't have the resources like the U.S., Australia, Britain. We could only offer token help in any event. But I know that a Pilot from Ontario did help in the search at one time. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. WestCoastRunner Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Looks like that oil slick wasn't connected to the flight. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou
On Guard for Thee Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Apparently not. Mind you, as big as the plane is, there's not a lot of oil in it. Jet engines don't need much. Also, it's synthetic and I doubt any of it would be still on the surface after this long in the wind and wave. Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 They just keep coming up with dead ends. Very unfortunate for the families. Yes and I think that Bluefin covers about a square mile in a 24 hour cycle so it will take a while to cover the current search area. Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Mind you, the same number of people are missing off that south korean ferry. Most of them teenagers, very tragic. On Guard for Thee Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Yes indeed. I hate to say it I think we are down to pretty faint hope that further survivors will be found in the hull. And I would damn sure not want to be the captain of that vessel. You guys just stay seated while the ship sinks and I get the hell out of here. What a thing to live with. Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Sounds like the people who disregarded that information were the only ones to make it out alive.
