It looks like the Ukrainians are voting with their feet. Ukrainia requires many more bodies to maintain its armed forces and has had to institute a draft;

http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/draft-dodgers-396690.html

Not too many Ukrainians are prepared to serve in the armed forces and blame everything form mismanagement to corruption for their reasons to refuse to join. Looks to me that this current situation is permanent and the sooner Canada re-establishes co-operation and better economic ties with Russia then the better for Canada.

As usual Big Guy you presume. Now you presume to be Ukrainian speaking for Ukrainians and claiming they won't serve in their army and hate their government, You speak for everyone. You think for everyone this time Ukrainians and yet you don't even know the name of their country.

Ukrainia. Brilliant. Go find out the name of the country you profess to be an expert on.

Thank you for the brief and ? post. Do you really read anything before you comment?

"Officially ending on Aug. 18, the sixth wave (of the draft) , like those before it, failed to meet its mark – hitting only 60 percent of the target.

Alexander Pravdivets, the deputy head for mobilization planning with Ukraine’s General Staff, announced at a briefing in Kyiv on Aug. 18 that 26,800 people called up for the draft had failed to appear for service. He said nearly 1,500 criminal cases have been opened against those who evaded military service.

The reasons for not wanting to serve vary, with many “draft dodgers” citing last year’s catastrophic defeat in Ilovaisk and this year’s defeat in Debaltseve as evidence that commanders are dangerously incompetent."

The above quote is from the "Kyivpost", the official spokes media for the government in Kiev.

What are you talking about?

Listen Ukrainia expert cherry picking a hew head line articles then passing yourself off as speaking for Ukrainians is a crock.

What you want me to cherry pick headlines?

http://www.euronews.com/2014/03/04/ukraine-s-army-recruitment-centres-inundated-with-willing-soldiers/

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-07/ukrainians-flock-to-army-recruitment-agencies-as-war-looms/5437162

The recruitment problems in the Ukraine are far more complex then what you have misrepresented them as. You do not speak for Ukrainians and your cherry picking doesn't make what you say accurate let alone a platform for you to assume you know what is going on.

Att least find out the name of the country you claim to be an expert on.

The problems with the Ukrainian armed forces at this time can be explained but sure as hell not with your simplistic drivel;

Thank you for the response. I apologize. I do not know what got into me. I have no respect for your opinion, I do not like how you refer to me and others on this board. From the little I have read here I do not think you are a very nice person and if I was walking down a street I would probably cross it just to avoid you. Why I respond to anything you post here is a mystery and mistake. I mystery to me as to why I did it and a mistake to repeat it. One mistake, your fault. Two mistakes, my fault. I do not intend to make a third mistake.

Please go find somebody else to insult.

Radical extremists training children how to hate and kill their enemy!

http://www.kyivpost.com/multimedia/photo/azovets-patriotic-camp-for-children-396138.html

Another example of Muslim extremists creating new little Khadr's ?

No - Ukrainian nationalists preparing the next generation to defend their country. I guess there are good child soldiers and bad child soldiers and some just plain child soldiers.

In an attempt to stop the war and accept the fact that the Eastern oblasts do not want to be part of the Ukraine, the parliament in Kiev has passed legislation recognizing the "special status" of those areas currently under separatists control. Unfortunately, there is still a violent fascist element which wants the war to continue:

http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/08/deadly-protest-ukraine-decentralisation-law-150831132200366.html

The sooner the separatists are allowed self government, the sooner this conflict will end. It is unfortunate that Canada cannot be a player in the resolution to this crisis since Harper continued his "me too America" foreign policy towards Russia and imposed those silly sanctions, and discounted our neutrality.

Time for Canada to create and facilitate its own foreign policy - one beneficial to Canada.

I voted "don't know" even though I was inclined to vote "Yes". I am hoping that it won't happen. I met a (beautiful) Russian Girl on my recent trip abroad and she genuinely believed that the West is at fault in Ukraine crisis!!!!. We almost got into a fight!!!. She was either brainwashed or may be she was telling the truth.

Honestly I don't know much about the Ukraine crisis except that I don't like Russians (unless they are pretty females). They have always had oppressive governments sending armies to colonize their neighbors and rule them by force, impose their idiotic communist ideology, supporting the oppressive corrupt regimes like the ones in East Germany and anyone trying to come out of their oppressive rule, then they sent their occupying army to crush the resistance like in Hungry, Czechoslovakia and Afghanistan and almost Poland too. My assumptions was that they did same with Ukraine but the Russian friend was saying otherwise....... They even oppressed their own people like the millions they sent to exile to Siberia and many died.

Looks like there is little difference between those free thinking folks in Kiev and those backwards thinkers in the Kremlin:

http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/ukraine-chooses-homophobia-over-eu-integration-401535.html

Far from being seen as a beacon of human rights victories, Ukraine has long struggled with a stigma against homosexuals, and the most recent gay rights protest over the summer ended in violence and bloodshed after homophobes attacked the march.

A recent bill to legitimize gays was defeated. Those Ukrainians and Russians deserve each other.

Crimea is in a blackout but Russian all the way:

http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/crimea-blackout-intensifies-war-with-russia-402740.html

The idea of the Crimea returning to Ukraine is fading fast. This Russian speaking area is even more upset with Kiev since they allowed an electrical blackout. If Putin starts to play hardball with energy transfers then Kiev will come in second.

Many don't understand the situation. Russia did not annex Ukraine. They had elections. Washington wanted neo nazis and the people wanted to be part of russia. Read up on it besides regurgitating CNN propaganda. The Ukraine army shot down the airliner, and thats why the DC criminals couldn't pin it on Russia. Put is not a bully. He is the only leader protecting his people. His agenda does not have 14 hidden sides for every public one, unlike the mafia who runs america.
