Topaz Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Liberal MP Irwin Colter is retiring after the next election. I've listened to this MP in debate and in committees and he is very intelligent person and after reading this article, I didn't know that he was the president at one time, of the Canadian Jewish Congress and I think the senate needs people like him. http://www.haaretz.com/jewish-world/jewish-world-news/1.572787 Quote

Keepitsimple Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 A good man. Passionate. Too nice to be a politician. Quote Back to Basics
overthere Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Harper should appoint him to the Senate Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
cybercoma Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 It makes me sick how Conservatives are giving him praise and accolades on Twitter after the way they treated him, setting up a Shadow MP in his riding. Disgusting. Quote
Big Guy Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 A time comes for every politician to have that "walk in the snow" - especially when they are over 70 years of age. It is time for the Liberals to start getting younger people to run for government. Too many of those still around in the Liberal party are carrying a lot of baggage. Disgusting. All is fair in love and war. And when harper calls it quits everyone will say nice things about him. So don't get sick over something as trivial as this. Remiel Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 I sure as Hell will not be saying nice things about anyone in the Conservatives I would not say nice things about now. In any case, Cotler is a big loss for the Liberal caucus, but ,yes, one likely made inevitable by age. A loss for all of Parliament and Canada. I do not think there is anyone else in the Commons that has as great a stature. Quote
