From what Forbes said oil can run out in 7 years, and Russia would then immediately be in a deficit.

And wishing for the continued survival of vicious dictators to offset the US is, I think, a ridiculous political hope.

They might be right about oil supplies, but I'm pretty sure they have a lot more natural gas reserves. Although, if the radical environmentalists in North America ever let us develop our massive supply of natural gas, Russia would only have Europe to sell to.

Those same excuses were made about the oil exploration and drilling. Enviro nuts and Russia. Oil and gas are finite on this planet. Why can't we move all the way to renewable resources?

How do these entities plan to make money when the stuff they are selling runs out?

Why can't we also use clean natural gas? We can move all the way to renewables when it's actually possible and economically feasable.

That is the real problem. The value put on natural resources by these companies. And they will only move to renewables when the oil/gas runs out and they risk financial losses. That indicates that there is a lot of greed because of the monetary value put on a resource that will run out. But they will take us all to the cleaners in the mean time.

And we have the left in this country trying to make harper out to be worse then these real dictators. I hope when reading this you will realize how foolish you look with such stupid talk as we hear from the left.

Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

You're not making any sense at all. "These companies" don't put values on natural resources, markets do, ie demand for said products. For example, an oil company or natural gas company isn't in the business of renewable energy. However, if you wish to start a renewable energy company, feel free. As for natural gas and oil running out, it's not going to happen anytime soon. There's something like a 100 year supply of both in North America alone. If you wish to see more renewable energy use, make it at the same price or cheaper as current energy production, and we'll all be happy to switch. :)

The oil market is owned by the people extracting the oil. OPEC, it's a monopolistic organization.

And you might want to make the switch BEFORE the oil runs out. As long as we have been using things like oil and natural gas, it will eventually run out. What are we doing in the meantime to prepare for that?

We've been using these types of resources on a short time line compared to human history. So a 100 year projection is really not that far down the road. What do you want to leave for your children and grandchildren? One needs to think beyond their severely limited time on this earth.

Many oil producting countries aren't members of OPEC. Regardless, do you really think a hundred years from now we'll still be using the same technology related to energy use and production? The obvious answer is no.

So you don't think Canada should have taken the stance we did on communism and the USSR?

Todays dopey generation of citizens, and corporate controlled government would have LOST the cold war. Hell... we would have strengthened the USSR by importing cheap products made in soviet Gulags.

I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
