GostHacked Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 This isnt about "enviros" blocking projects. Theres over a trillion dollars worth of infrastructure due just in repairs and upgrades alone. The reason theres no spending is because theres no money... States, cities, and municipalities are broke. And the fed is still continuing with QE Unlimited, where the hell is all this money going? Who is making out like bandits here? I know rhetorical question. Quote

That's what gasoline taxes, etc are suppose to fund. Quote
Shady Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 And the fed is still continuing with QE Unlimited, where the hell is all this money going? Who is making out like bandits here? I know rhetorical question. Exactly. The money's going somewhere. Or they're just printing it. Quote
GostHacked Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) Exactly. The money's going somewhere. Or they're just printing it. Went to the cronies on Wall Street and the Too big to fail banks and the too big to fail auto sector. America got screwed and was not even given the courtesy of at least lubing up first. The thing is the Reps and Dems just take turns at screwing you. But partisan thought allows one to love getting screwed by one and not the other when the screwing is exactly the same but claiming they are different. Edited November 7, 2013 by GostHacked Quote
bleeding heart Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 There's a bunch of it in Obama's recovery and stimulus bill. Did you watch the video regarding shovel ready jobs? ?? I was asking specifically for a list of jobs-creating industry infrastructure was has been stopped specifically because of "enviros." Since the matter is so obvious, it should be easy to produce a whole bunch of them. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver." --Bill Graham, Former Canadian Foreign Minister, 2007

waldo Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 There's a bunch of it in Obama's recovery and stimulus bill. Did you watch the video regarding shovel ready jobs? complete nonsense!™ That Obama reference was in the context of the U.S. stimulus bill funding of construction related jobs... where to be "shovel ready", or ready to begin construction in six months, eligible projects were required to have design, permits and environmental assessment completed... both at the state and federal level. From what I read, many of those proposed projects were already in progress to the point of slotting quite relatively easy into the stimulus bill requirements. Of course, for any projects that didn't have assessments complete, they were not eligible... unless exceptions could be granted at the state and/or federal level. Also, from what I read, the U.S. Congress has the power to grant exceptions to, for example, the federal National Environmental Policy Act - perhaps you should shift a portion of your ODS towards the Congress! in any case, who should be surprised that you (or anyone) would expect new & significant job-creating proposals to have all requirements met within the stimulus bills 6-month shovel-ready time frame.... including design, permits... and environmental assessments. waldo Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 A needle of gold in the haystack if dung that this thread has become. bingo! That started with a ShadyDistraction at post #14, followed shortly after with the standard TimG long-streaming steaming tirade against "enviros"! From that point forward we had them tag-team to ensure the original OP emphasis was completely lost. Quote
GostHacked Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 Exactly. The money's going somewhere. Or they're just printing it. I want to make a second reply to this .. the money is going somewhere as stated previously, AND they are continually printing money. The US is at a financial crossroads where they have managed to keep on kicking the can down the road, but the can is getting bigger and harder to kick down the road. So bailouts, printing money, housing market and bank fraud, the dumping of the greenback as the world's reserve currency, and dumping the petrodollar by some nations, combined with cities/states/country going broke and unable to pay for anything, simply because governments small and large overwhelmingly spend more than they take in as revenue. The gutting of the middle class by moving manufacturing jobs overseas to the point that those good paying jobs will never return to the US. It's gotten to the point where you can only afford stuff from places like Walmart. Even if you go with the enviro laws preventing businesses from operating in the USA, it does not prevent them from moving operations to another location where the enviro and labour laws are very very bad. I'd like to protect the environment. As an individual you are punished for not thinking green. Corps get away with literal murder, The approach to environmentalism is not consistent by governments. The other problem is with the crumbling infrastructure, is how the nuke plants are going to hold up. Japan and TEPCO have been absolutely deplorable with how they have handled the meltdowns at Fukushima. They are STILL worried about their bottom line more than the radioactive crap that has been spreading around for close to three years. What happens to US nuke plants if they are not maintained like the rest of the infrastructure? And that is not taking into account how disasters are handled. Katrina, Sandy, BP Deepwater Horizon. Do I need to go on? And people thought this would not come to a head? This has been brewing for a couple decades now. And there are a lot of angles to cover. Most are only thinking of one or two, but when you look at the bigger picture, it's only then do you start to understand how screwed up the situation is. Quote
GostHacked Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) http://www.reuters.com/investigates/pentagon/#article/part2 Article Title : Behind the Pentagon’s doctored ledgers, a running tally of epic waste Government waste when it comes to recent wars. Military infrastructure. The consequences aren’t only financial; bad bookkeeping can affect the nation’s defense. In one example of many, the Army lost track of $5.8 billion of supplies between 2003 and 2011 as it shuffled equipment between reserve and regular units. Affected units “may experience equipment shortages that could hinder their ability to train soldiers and respond to emergencies,” the Pentagon inspector general said in a September 2012 report. Time to audit the Pentagon as well as the Federal Reserve. Because of its persistent inability to tally its accounts, the Pentagon is the only federal agency that has not complied with a law that requires annual audits of all government departments. That means that the $8.5 trillion in taxpayer money doled out by Congress to the Pentagon since 1996, the first year it was supposed to be audited, has never been accounted for. That sum exceeds the value of China’s economic output last year. What could the USA do with 8.5 trillion? What could the world do with 8.5 trillion? Want to know where your taxpayer money is going?
