And as we talked about earlier, I would expect that rate to actually be higher…..somewhere in 6th or 7th spot.

Try to control your emotions Guyser. your personal attacks against me are only going to serve to lower your own frustration level. And don't be silly, Harper doesn't ask people to get a gun, his program of turning Canada into the 51st. state is more subtle than that.

And as to your personal attacks, I've reported those in hopes that maybe you'll hear about it!

Of course, if there's anything else you would like to discuss on a sane and rational level, I'll be here for as long as I can. Just try to tone it down a bit. thanks!

On Guard, the only part of your post I would disagree with is that you put an economic value on accepting or rejecting the death penalty. That's purely a US approach to the issue. We Canadians are better than that and so I hope that you just slipped up and that's the reason you started worrying about the cost in dollars. But good try anyway, it's one of your best posts I've read on this forum from you!

b_c, what on earth are you on about now. the issue is Americans killing each other with their handguns and automatic weapons they need to have because they get some sort of macho or sexual fulfillment out of them. They consider their guns to be an extension of their penis I think?

Would you care to highlight, in another thread perhaps, the Harper Government’s program of turning Canada into the 51st State?
As I said, in another thread to allow this topic to remain on task. If you’re incapable, I’m more than willing to start the thread if there is interest.

What of American women gun owners that own a firearm for self defense? Penis envy perhaps?

Derek, In my opinion they're nothing but lowlife gungoon wannabes. Women who have forgotten how to be women and so their strings are easily pulled by the hicks they call their husbands. If you don't agree then just look at the pictures we see in the news of these socalled women. Not my kind of girl I would take home to meet mom. You?

And besides Derek, if they think they need a gun for self defence, they've bought into their sick society's problems. ON the bright side, it's mostly in the US south where brothers are marrying their sisters more than any other area of that country.

We're better tan that Derek. Right?

How have said women forgotten to be women?

As to said women being fit to take home to meet mom.....well, I've been married to one for nearly 25 years and have a daughter that would also fit that description.

And besides Derek, if they think they need a gun for self defence, they've bought into their sick society's problems. ON the bright side, it's mostly in the US south where brothers are marrying their sisters more than any other area of that country.

Americans have had the right to self defense with a firearm since the creation of their country....this is very unlikely to change.

Derek, If you live by the gun you will die by the gun. much too often it's true and my daughter doesn't own any guns, nor does she even want to own guns. Why would a mother of children in Canada even be thinking of owning guns? This is not the US and there's no reason to won them for protection. In my opinion there is something wrong with women who play with guns instead of playing with more suitable passtimes. I'm not saying that a woman shouldn't be allowed to do as she pleases when it comes to owning guns, I'm saying that in my opinion, women who want to play with guns have a problem. And women who think they need a gun for protection in Canada have a real big problem.

My opinions Derek, you have the right to yours! I hope your apparent encouragement of the gungoon mentality of the U

S doesn't come back to bite you. Or much worse your daughter!

My wife grew-up in a rural area of South Africa……..guns were far more then a hobby.....but now of course, we do live in Canada, so no, we do not own firearms for protection (I‘ve never felt unsafe in Canada), but as a hobby and sport.
With that said, to bring this back to the topic of American law and order, what of women in the States that own firearms for protection? Do you feel women in America shouldn’t have this right? And what if said women in the States do own firearms for sports or as a hobby, why in your mind do these women have a problem?

I didn't put an economic value, I pointed out the economic cost of the death penalty. Two different things. Try to keep up eh. And I suggest if you wish to try and condescend, you should rise to a level from which you can condescend from.

On Guard, Your entire post addressed nothing else but the cost of capital punishment. If you choose do try to rise above that then let me know. In the meantime stop trying to give me your feeble attempt at denying that.

Hint: There are lots of reasons to oppose capital punishment. If at any time you are interested in learning of them then ask me for direction. If you already are aware of such then stop dwelling on costs and put your best foot forward. Or don't, it's your schtick to deal with. .

And On Guard, if you want to try to demonize me in the eyes of the mods then do it on a basis which there is at least a hint of credibility. Your post called for my condescending reply because it was all about costs of capital punishment. If you want to debate that fact then the best thing you could do is go back and try to edit the post in question. I see no other remedy.

m_16...here is why you are wrong...and will always be wrong....now go count the guns in Canada.

b_c, I'm a Canadian and your're not and that says we have nothing in common when it comes to your guns and your big problem of Americans 'taking each other out' with them.

Frankly, I don't care in the least how many of your fellow americans you blow away with your guns. My interest is strictly in preventing Harper from turning Canada into the same messed up sort of country. If you feel you have a mutual interest in preventing that then by all means join the conversation on that basis.

m_16, Canada's problem is knives and cannibals on buses.

Canadians voted for Harper's party...not yours. Either way, Americans have the right to own and bear arms, regardless of what Canadians do or think about it. Maybe stop watching so much American media if you don't want to be "messed up". Boring is safe !

Apparently it's not the only thing you don't see. Apparently you don't read posts, even my short ones, in their entirety. And what is it you think I should edit?

b_c, Americans have the right to own and bear arms and the more military type weapons and handguns they own, the better. They are meant for an express purpose of killing people. What more could I say? Fill your boots!

And have a nice day!

Ha...your level of posting content leqaves much to be desired.

But you are right, I have a frustration level that gets lower every time I read another inanity post. Ya know, cuz laughing is good for the soul and the mind.

IOW, you shouldnt have said he does. Ok thanks .

Dead over illegal smokes.

NEW YORK - Police say a man had a heart attack and died as officers attempted to arrest him for illegally selling cigarettes on Staten Island, but a video of the incident obtained by the New York Daily News appears to show police placing the man in a choke hold as he pleads "I can't breathe."

Eric Garner, 43, was pronounced dead at a hospital after officers tried to apprehend him around 4:45 p.m., Thursday.

Police say the officers observed Garner selling untaxed cigarettes on Bay Street, just blocks away from the 120th precinct. They say he'd been arrested before for the same offense.

Authorities didn't say whether Garner was handcuffed or if there was a struggle during the arrest, however the video obtained by the paper shows several officers attempting to take Garner into custody by putting him in a choke hold and pressing him towards the ground.

"I can't breathe, I can't breathe," Garner is heard saying in the video as he is pushed to the ground and handcuffed.

Road Pirates.

On its official website, the Canadian government informs its citizens that “there is no limit to the amount of money that you may legally take into or out of the United States.” Nonetheless, it adds, banking in the U.S. can be difficult for non-residents, so Canadians shouldn’t carry large amounts of cash.

That last bit is excellent advice, but for an entirely different reason than the one Ottawa cites.

There’s a shakedown going on in the U.S., and the perps are in uniform.

Across America, law enforcement officers — from federal agents to state troopers right down to sheriffs in one-street backwaters — are operating a vast, co-ordinated scheme to grab as much of the public’s cash as they can; “hand over fist,” to use the words of one police trainer.
