So now our dear McGuinty, who we all love and admire, (even the NDP won't stand for us), will now try his best to fade into the sunset. Yeh right, with billions pissed away, and we faced with an astronomical debt and a raise in taxes to cover his parties likely provable malfeasance.

Retire!!! Tar and feather would have been the way his behavior would have once been handled. As for the NDP, I have never been so disallusioned as now with their party complicit in the Liberals avoiding a vote.

He gets his pension, we get the shaft , his debts.

OK the Conservatves may lack a high profile leader, but certainly they are the only choice we can support.

The Liberals don't deserve anything but a trial and jail (for some ) and disgust and humiliation at best for many in the know others.

The PC;s have come along way since the last election and we have to get past this ''who would you like a beer with'' attitude and put the boring guy in. And what this has proved is there is a major media bias in this country and it is hurting the country.

Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

Actually he doesn't get a pension, Mike Harris did away with MPP's pensions. Yeah Harris !!!! I don't see any alternative except Hudak, gotta be better than what we've had and still have.

What do people want from Hudak? Not be Conservative?

He ran the last election as McGuinty Light. Not really putting forth a platform that was much different that the Liberals.

So in the past months he's been putting out policies on how he'd be different.

What is it that he needs to do to make people think he's worthy of anther election? McGuinty lost his first election and was allowed to fight another one.

And if not Hudak, then who? Lisa MacLeod to make it and all female affair.

Actually he doesn't get a pension,

Just a ton of money to compensate for the lack of one.

1.5 times the annual salary when or if they leave after eight years, less than 8 yrs they get half their annual pay.

TORONTO -- It’s a rare moment of unanimity at Queen’s Park.

Ontario’s three main political parties -- the Liberals, New Democrats and Progressive Conservatives -- may disagree on just about every major policy, but they all support severance for MPPs who retire, quit or are defeated.

Premier Dalton McGuinty said Wednesday that the severance he’ll receive -- $313,461 -- is far less than he would have been entitled to under the former gold-plated MPP pension plan abolished in 1997.

Under that plan, McGuinty says he would have left with a $3.7 million pension.

“So I think that’s a healthy development and in the interest of Ontario taxpayers,” McGuinty said. “I’m sure that there are some people who believe that if politicians were to be paid $100 a year, that would be $100 too much. I understand that.”

McGuinty, Finance Minister Dwight Duncan and Energy Minister Chris Bentley -- who have all announced they will not run in the next election -- will depart with six-figure severance.

Former environment minister John Wilkinson said he received $165,851 in severance, not the $248,777 that was previously reported, and which is available to cabinet ministers with more than eight years service.

In contrast, former Tory finance minister Ernie Eves left with a $78,000 severance package which he quietly repaid before returning to the legislature as premier.

They should garnish any income he has for life sez I.

The pension plan was replaced with a severance package, much cheaper.

True, but you left that part out and made it seem they walk w nothing

Sheez, I simply reported there is no pension, a jolly good deed done by Mr. Harris.

I understand the reason for severance pay. Don't get me wrong, I do not support Mr. McGuinty, but many politicians give up higher paying jobs to become MPs or MPPs. I don't have that much of a problem with it.

I don't understand how people who knew how McGuinty lied and what he's been responsible for, could've voted him in again. Is Hudak so scary, too much Liberal lite ?

We were fortunate to have Harris, he said what he'd do and did what he said he'd do. Now we have wynne following the duplicitous policies of McGuinty Liberals. 'They' were insisting no raises for teachers etc., then she gave teachers more money. Is it a lie if a politician says it? Yup, if their mouth moves their lying.

Ontario’s public elementary school teachers have reached a tentative deal with the province that would give them a roughly 2 per cent salary bump that they lost in a previous round of bargaining.

The Liberal government has promised to eliminate the pay difference between the 76,000 members belonging to the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, and their Catholic and French counterparts.

The move by the government contradicts earlier statements by Premier Kathleen Wynne and Education Minister Liz Sandals that there would be no new money on the table for teachers. The pay hike will cost the treasury $112-million every year.

And paying teachers a bonus if they use fewer than 6 sick days.. Say what, since when do we pay employees for not misusing sick days.

They'll say it's still cheaper than allowing them to bank 100 sick days for retirement.

You really have to treat them with kid gloves though eh?

and calling in substitute teachers. But really, shouldn't teachers be setting an example to their students ? The recent spate of sick usage brought this on when the teachers started using up sick days rather than lose them. Sick days are for illness, not for goofing off.

Most places including the city have done away with this banking your sick days then get a huge payout for not using them.

The interesting thing about the contract, I heard. Is how they wiggled around the whole Pay Freeze while still allowing young teachers to automatically move up the grid.

Apparently every teacher has to take a furlough (Rae Day) over the term of the contract. I'm sure senior teachers are thrilled about that.

I didn't know that.. imagine the mileage Tim Hudak would get out of that, imagein - Liberal 'Rae days'...

I heard an interview today with the Min. of Education, it is amazing how they are presenting the 2%. It's not a raise doncha know. It's ketch up (catch up)

The funny thing about that is that back then ETFO held out while the rest of the Unions made a deal. They ended up, I don't know how, having to settle for less. This is to fix that problem. Also that raise won't happen for over a year.

Hopefully by then the Liberals will be out of power.
