guyser Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 But my question is who is footing the bill? Is it the tax payers or a private funding? The govt pays the bill . They don't negotitate the individual materials though, thats the GC's job to know beforehand Quote
Signals.Cpl Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 My concern is the look of it. If it were my house and there's was going to be a difference in looks and cost a little more, I'd pay more because down the road when it comes time to sell, buyers may not like the looks of it and either reduce the asking price or not buy it at all. In the article it said it would probably have to be re-done, so do it now with the matching stone, prices always more expensive in the future. Difference in comparison, this is not a house and we should not be looking at the potential resale value if the government tries to sell it 10,20,50 or 100 years down the road we should do what is necessary and make it look presentable at the cheapest possible price. Signals.Cpl Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 The govt pays the bill . They don't negotitate the individual materials though, thats the GC's job to know beforehand So whats the problem? A government agency decided one was cheaper than the other and went with the cheaper product... Quote Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst

To repeat myself: As for the new addition looking not the same as the original bank building: are people expecting an exact replica? I imagine it will be a contemporary design, which is what makes the input from a heritage consultant odd, to me. It's a new building being added onto an older one. I note the architects aren't even mentioned, let alone quoted. Quote
Wilber Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 So whats the problem? A government agency decided one was cheaper than the other and went with the cheaper product... Government should not just be looking for cheaper because cheaper is not always the cheapest. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
Signals.Cpl Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Government should not just be looking for cheaper because cheaper is not always the cheapest. In this case more expensive adds nothing to the project but a higher bill. If the price had an effect on the safety of the building then by all means spend the extra money but since it does not the government should just hire an architect who can work around the "problem" instead of splurging on more expensive materials. Yes, what type of security risk can be introduced by importing the building materials from a foreign country, afterall the building just intends to be used for high level dignitaries and high profile Canadian politicians.. Yes I am sure the US will sabotage the stone we import from them in order to do what? What would be their end game here? Kill our politicians? Spy on us? Kill our politicians? Spy on us? Well apparently the cia gave Chavez cancer, what if the NDP win,.... you never know what the US might do.... sure if the us wanted they could do many things, but I think expecting individuals to not have ulterior motives, who knows what the guys background is, did they do a security clearance on him or the employees... its not just the government plotting everything. Have to note the people who did the WTC and pentagon were apparently living in AMerica what if terrorists did a plot against canada from the us... anything is possible right, why even do a security check at all right, it is from america, there is no crime in america right. I'm just saying that is a whole lot of bricks for damn cheap. Its practically dumping. Yeah cause crime has never infiltrated GC projects.. like the hells angels front who renovated parliament, and the mafia who built the trans canada in northern ontario and quebec.. You have got to be kidding me... they are selling the stone, that is their motive to make money. Chavez died because he was sick not because the US made him sick. The NDP could win and the US will do nothing other than a congratulatory call to the new PM and move on. You should cut down on the movies. Quote Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst

As well as how to defeat those delusions threats. In reality though aluminum foil not much tinfoil is made anymore. Signals.Cpl Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) worthy of? Worthy of naming you a productive member of humanity because judging from your posts you are either delusional, in your own little world, a troll or a combination thereof... I cannot for the life of me see someone who comes up with such idiotic ideas having any life experience past kindergarden let alone experience in the working world because if you did have even one day of experience working a real job your "ideas" would be significantly more believable and refined rather than the rubbish you throw around. You support genocide! What else needs to be said login? Edited March 12, 2013 by Signals.Cpl Quote Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst

You support genocide! What else needs to be said login? I'm not materially productive, I'm a total leach, my only real benefits are feeding birds and other small game as well as adding insights to boards such as mapleleaf web, as well as providing personal services that are mostly things that an apt person could learn from surfing the web or reading a well written textbook on a given subject. They arn't idiotic ideas, they are good ideas. I support genocide of bad people who will do bad things to people, that is not morally wrong, it is morally right, you just don't like the word. I think if I had the option of offing someone who wanted to do very nasty things to you such as give you ebola, you'd thank me for drowning them. Take a look maybe you'll support genocide too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aZoxfE9_fg Edited March 12, 2013 by shortlived Quote My posts are sometimes edited to create spelling errors if you see one kindly notify me. MiddleClassCentrist Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 The stone should come from Canada. US government doesn't buy Canadian goods with their protectionist measures. Canadian Government shouldn't buy theirs either. Quote Ideology does not make good policy. Good policy comes from an analysis of options, comparison of options and selection of one option that works best in the current situation. This option is often a compromise between ideologies.
