Canuckistani Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) http://ca.news.yahoo...-184323398.html Insanity seems to run deep in that country. To harass the man who took in those 6 children is just nuts. Shootings — even child murders — happen every day, several times a day, in America. According to UNICEF, America has the worst record of child abuse and homicide in the industrialized world, with an average of 27 children killed every week by their parents and caregivers. But those child murders don't have implications for enacting a national policy on gun control. Most events producing conspiracy theories have important social and political implications, and the Sandy Hook shootings are no exception. No one, regardless of what side of the gun control issue they are on, can deny that guns played a key role in the Sandy Hook killings. So the conspiracy theorists must instead challenge the claim that the attack even occurred. They believe it's all a hoax to scare people into supporting more gun control and a step toward an outright repeal of the Second Amendment. [5 Milestones in Gun Control History] What can you say but sad? How deep seated is this love of guns to buy into the idea that this is a staged event? How does America hang together with people this distrustful of their government and each other? It's getting scarier day by day to be their neighbor. Edited January 16, 2013 by Canuckistani Quote
guyser Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 300 million people will always include a good number of idiots, nutbars and conspiracy morons. Canada has about 10% of the same. Wasn't Wiebo one of the 10% ? Quote
Guest American Woman Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 Oh spare me the drama. What do you have to be afraid of? And how many people do you think are buying into that conspiracy theory? And if you don't think there are Canadians who buy into conspiracy theories, too - think again. What's "sad" is that you are taking this and attributing it to "America." I would wonder why, but I'm sure I already know. And it is sad, just as I said. Quote

Seems sad to me that half our country couldn't be bothered to even know the truth in front of them. Quote

Seems sad to me that half our country couldn't be bothered to even know the truth in front of them. Try 46% of Republicans, which is not "America." Furthermore, it was a Time survey, taken right after the controversy over the mosque being built on land available because of 9-11, and it had a margin of error of about +/-5.8%. It hardly spoke for "America," or even "half our country." Seems sad to me that you couldn't even be bothered to even know the truth of the poll and post it factually. Quote

So some 15-20% or like 60 million people. Yah still seems sad for some reason. Quote
Guest American Woman Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 So at least 40% of Republicans think Obama is a Muslim? And they're allowed to vote? OMG. Yes, because that one poll says it all - for all times, Never mind that other polls say differently. I don't know why they're allowed to vote. I just think it's a shame that all Americans aren't totally aware of all the facts - as they are in Canada. But do keep going on about Americans. I understand. Quote
Guest American Woman Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 So some 15-20% or like 60 million people. Yah still seems sad for some reason. Yeah, because 15% is such a huge majority. Oh, wait ...... What's really so sad about it? - In other words, so what if he is a Muslim? I personally couldn't care less what religion he is. And he won, in case it's escaped you. Quote

Saw a PPP poll showing half of all voters in Alabama and Mississippi believe he is a Muslim. Know what? Here is the Problem you tell an American something with facts and they refuse to listen. I am telling you right now it is sad so many Americans refuse to accept the truth and decide to create their own reality. You among them. Quote

Where did I say I don't accept the results of that poll? That's all that poll tells - the results of that poll. But wow. 17% think he's Muslim. Or did at one point in time. The ignorance is appalling - as of course you don't believe anything that isn't true. That goes without saying, eh? Every voter in every other country is in the know about the "facts," and would never believe anything other than the facts. But my God, NO! Not Alabama and Mississippi?! Everyone knows that those two Southern states speak for America, eh? All 50 states. I can tell you what the "problem" is, but it would go right over your head. Quote

Maybe you want to ask Republicans about pretending polls don't read how the public thinks. It went so well for Romney. It is one thing not to know the facts. It is another thing to have your reality informed by what you want to believe. No one was pushed to answer what they thought Obama's religion was infact most people answered I don't know. However close to 20% of all Americans choose an answer and continue to do so in which they know the facts they just refuse to accept them. That is scary. But my God, NO! Not Alabama and Mississippi?! Everyone knows that those two Southern states speak for America, eh? All 50 states. Yes Alabama and Mississippi two states in the Union. I can tell you what the "problem" is, but it would go right over your head. Go ahead shoot I am waiting. Again it is sad when the American public refuses to listen to facts and reason. Canuckistani Posted January 16, 2013 Author Report Posted January 16, 2013 I have to admit that I think this Sandyhook conspiracy theory is a whole other level of crazy compared to Barry being a Muslim. Barry's dad was a Muslim and many people think of Muslim as a race. Barak went to a madrasa, so I can sorta kinda see how the idea gains traction, especially if you don't like the man. But to think that these kid shootings were faked, well, holy cow. Quote

Michael Hardner Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 Cultural assessments are always relative. To say that Americans are conspiracy minded, as a Canadian, is relative to our viewpoint. Doubting authority is a long held American value, just as sniveling compliance is a trait of Canadians.
