login
They must feel great right now. http://www.guardian....launches-rocket This is not just about the launch but the fact they are now a space age society and mostly on their own. The fact they have put a satalite into space from their tiny state is a great acheivement. This is not meant to be a commentary on the militarization potentials such as attacking satalites japanese south korean etc.., lauching space debris to knock out the global satalite network, or military applications of ballistic missiles. To date this has only been a peaceful occurence so lets not dwell. Its not like other nations havn't developed those capacities. Moonlight Graham
Sounds like a project to give the new leader a power-boner. Maybe he should spend the money on feeding his people. What a crappy communist country.
Guest
Right. Let's concentrate on missiles when no-one but the worlds sexiest man has enough to eat. Maybe he'll use it to execute the next guy who ever so slightly disrespects his dad, instead of a mortar round. The fact that they did this while their population starves is something their leaders should be deeply ashamed of. It is no achievement - it is pathetic and sad. Bonam
There's no evidence that they got anything into space from any independent source, last I read.

So you celebrate this while their people have a terrible standard of living? I have read few things more stupid than what you wrote.
Topaz
N, Korea not the only one firing off rockets, the US did one too and its the third flight into space and apprarently, China thinks it up there to spy on them. Who knows? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-20680253
guyser
Ahh N Korea, that bastion of all that is ....sorry, I was thinking South Korea. All one needs to know about NK is to see it from space at night. While the whole world is pretty much lit up. NK is as dark as the dark skies observatory. Not to mention one can hear rumbling tummies on every single child in that country. ...they are now a space age society Sure are, why they just got the K-car ! DogOnPorch
There's no evidence that they got anything into space from any independent source, last I read. Looks like they got a small payload into polar orbit. That's an improvement in their specific impulse if nothing else. But, the damn thing still uses nitric acid and UDMH which I view as very unsafe. Guest Peeves
Right. Let's concentrate on missiles when no-one but the worlds sexiest man has enough to eat. Maybe he'll use it to execute the next guy who ever so slightly disrespects his dad, instead of a mortar round. That's worth pointing out, however, I love it when a post starts off trolling with a provocative endorsement and congratulations to a despotic regime without human rights or basic sustenance, and is taken as a sensible and reasonable observation worthy of commentary.
