So far. The next PW that explodes will bring it closer for this bomb truck. Ad at least the 18 had another one to bring you home, and it wasnt burning at about the same temp as the suns core.

Closer to what? The sole issue with the F135 has been resolved......The engine issues with the Super Hornet during development required completely new engines to resolve, and even then, was still a compromise (at best) when compared to the aircraft it replaced.....as a bomb truck it carried smaller loads, a shorter distance and as a fleet interceptor, its forced to intercept its targets closer to its bird farm, fore it too trailed behind the aircraft it replaced, lacking the sustained energy performance.....

Inversely, the F-35, already, is an improvement over the three main legacy aircraft that it will replace........

Except it cant turn very well, cant accelerate very well, needs to be close to fuel truck, (a cool fuel truck) and its sole source engine is fraught with problems, and if you are gonna put a bad engine in a plane its a good idea to put more than one.

And of course, yet again, you’re wrong, as also pointed out to you previously, the F-35 improves upon the agility of the F-16 and AoA of the Hornet and the sustained speed of the Harrier, not to mention the range of all three aircraft……hence an improvement over the aircraft it replaces……inversely, the sole engine issues has been resolved, and as pointed out the fuel temp problem was resolved by painting four trucks for a total of $16000……..

You’d better try and find new talking points, as your current parroted babbled is past its best before date….

Today the F 16 would shred th 35 in about any mission you want to think of.

Come on now, if you pulled enough Gs to try and follow a 16 in a turn the turbine may rub and throw itself out the tailpipe.

Well no, fore an armed f-16 (external stores and fuel) will not out turn an F-35A with a similar loadout carried internally......

Drag is debatable?

And of course, as pointed out to you countless times, the F135 no longer suffers from "rubbing".......

I am glad you have such faith. You must get ALL your info directly from Lockart I guess. That egie has had rub and heat problems since day one, do you think they now have all the problems licked because they recently discovered the cause of the latest failure, I doubt it. Not sure what the funny face is supposed to be about, do you not understand drag perhaps. There are essentially 2 types, form and parasite. The 35 suffers from the former mostly.

The "egie" had "rub and heat problems" in less than 10% of those produced, regardless, the issue was addressed among all current and future engines.....That is fact per the maker and DoD,......If you have some source that proves these statements false, by all means, enlighten us....

And yes, I do understand drag......you clearly don't as you failed to understand the point made....one more time: The F-35 can carry an air-to-air loadout internally, likewise more fuel, versus the F-16, which will carry the equal loadout externally, inversely to match the F-35's fuel capacity, it too must carry drop tanks. As such, the F-16's speed, agility and fuel usage are all degraded when compared to the F-35.......

That says nothing to stealth, the 360 degree targeting afforded to the F-35 by it's DAS/HMD/sensor fusion.........

And the 16 desig began when, 68. First flew ,74. And yet it ca still outdo the bomb truck. And for a shitload less money. So why is the bomb truck so troubled, over budget, way behind sked. You are talking about parasite drag, I understand it quite well. It seems in trying to do away with that, the 35 just produced more form drag. Shouldnt have tried to make it a one size fits all machine. It ends up being not really good at anything.

The F-16 can't "out do" the F-35, as already confirmed by the maker of both aircraft (Lockheed) and operators of both the F-16 and F-35.....Likewise, Lockheed will stop producing the F-16 in Fort Worth once the F-35 (also produced in Fort Worth) enters full rate production in several years......like the Super Hornet, the F-16 is nearing its end.

Of course, the 15 is an old airplane and so deserves a rest. I wouldnt count the Super Hornet out so quick. Lots of 35 buyers are backing away in favor of the Hornet. After all, its a proven product.

The F-35 isn't replacing the F-15......

The baseline Super Hornet is no longer being produced, once Growler production for the USN is done (~2017), so is the Super Hornet line in St Louis, fore long lead item suppliers stop producing Hornet parts this Spring/Summer.......

Not a single F-35 partner nation has left the program, let alone to purchase Hornets........

Australlia is just one who has scaled back their order ad purchased Hornets to fill in the needs while the bomb truck continues to be delayed. Not to mention the US itself has scaled back its orders.

Ahh no, Australia didn't scale back their order, as they still plan to purchase 100 F-35s in three phases, with the last ~20 likely to be F-35B to utilize on the Canberra class LHDs........they purchased the Super Hornets/Growlers to replace their F-111s, not because the F-35 was delayed, but the F-111 was to costly to maintain after the USAF retired their fleet, but they still had a requirement for maritime strike/long range interdiction/recon.

The US (and several other members) have scaled back their intended orders due to their own domestic budget issues, and are not replacing these scaled back requirements with another aircraft type, as such, its a reflection of their own money woes and not the F-35.....

Ahh yeah. Gone back to 72 from 100 and bought 12 Hornets to fill in gaps caused by the ever increasing production delays of bomb trucks..

Ahh no, they are going to purchase the final ~28 F-35s, but have yet to fully determine if they will be F-35As or F-35Bs...........And no, the Super Hornets they purchased, replaced F-111s.......No RAAF legacy Hornets have been, or will be, replaced by Super Hornets, as their legacy force, in full, will be replaced by F-35s........
