While the needs and wants of the majority get trampled. It's disgusting.

The intent of law in a free society is to protect people, not oppress them. The purpose of the Constitution is to make sure governments do not cross that line and it is the Supreme Court's duty to determine when they do.

You need to read up on what democracy is about, the checks and balances needed to ensure that no one branch of government exercises unfettered power.

If any government passes laws that are violations of the constitutional rights of the people, the courts can strike down those laws.

It's for our protection.

Do you really want ANY government - Lib, Con, NDP, Green, etc. - to be able to override your constitutional rights?
