There was a protest at the American consulate in Toronto from Muslims who demanded an end to freedom of speech and expression, while also finding a few moments to attack Israel and Zionism with some thinly-veiled anti-Semitism. Why is this important? It reveals how irresponsible immigration policies import people who subscribe to a set of values antithetical to Canadian values of freedom. Couple that with "multiculturalism" policies that actually encourage people to cling to these anti-Canadian values, and you've got a recipe for cultural destruction.

Predictably, the CBC and its fellow leftist co-conspirators ignored this story.

Yes, immigration processes are indeed so lax they can't even pick up people's immutable and un-concealable beliefs. Clearly the Thought Police should step up where Her Majesty's border guards failed to.

In other words, you don't think there should be any added criteria when it comes to screening applicants for residency/citizenship into Canada that take into account the candidate's set of values. Keep bringing 'em in!

As far as the CBC goes, it's completely ignored this story. As has its ally the National Post. These events happened over the weekend. Not sure what you're rolling your eyes at.

Those certainly are other words. I thought I was clearly saying that there's no way a prospective immigrant can't hide his or her beliefs or they will never change after the immigrant's been accepted.

That doesn't even address the fact there are people born in this country who want to curtail the freedoms of expression for those who don't look or sound like what those people born in this country think a Canadian should look and sound like (which is, unsurprisingly, usually almost entirely like themselves).

Not sure what you're rolling your eyes at.

Ridiculous and contradictory conspiracy theories.

Your position was clear after your initial post. You do not want any screening criteria to be implemented for new immigrants which would take into consideration their values. Member of the Nazi party? Come on in. Member of the Muslim Brotherhood? No problem. Member of your local chapter of the communist Worker's Party? Welcome.

And why do you support this? Because we can't establish a foolproof system. Ever heard the phrase, "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good?". Or to put it another way, you want to burn down the entire system for a few exceptions that fall through the cracks.

There's no question that we have plenty of Canadians who subscribe to a set of values that are antithetical to freedom. I'm talking about immigration and "multiculturalism" policies as they pertain to this threat. Why in the world are we increasing the number of Canadians that are hostile to the most basic freedoms of our democracy: those of speech and expression? Answer: Because of people like you.

Ridiculous and contradictory conspiracy theories.

There's nothing "conspiratorial" about it. The CBC and the National Post, and I'd guess the majority of the Canadian media landscape, have completely ignored these events in Toronto over the weekend. What's ridiculous is the truth.

Predictably, you lump all Muslims together as extremist. <_<

Even Michael Coren is more accurate than that: These were Pakistani Shia Muslims, very traditional and extremist. .. not your average Muslims.

If you lump all Christians together with Joseph Kony's 'Lord's Resistance Army. .. I think you get the point?

You'll first have to prove that there has indeed been an increase in the number of Canadians hostile to the basic freedoms they enjoy, then prove that immigration is contributing to that increase, and then devise and present your system that will prevent any further increase, all before blaming me for the problem that's so far only in your imagination.

If there's nothing conspiratorial about it, why point out what's otherwise just obvious?

Right, because until there's a peer-reviewed research study on these subjects, reality can't exist. The truth is in front of you, and you're committed to contentiousness so you just bury your head in the sand. You've already made clear that you oppose any screening on the basis of values for people wishing to become citizens, you're absurd position has been exposed, and now you're demanding scientific proof that you know doesn't exist.

If there's nothing conspiratorial about it, why point out what's otherwise just obvious?

It's a comment on the leftist nature of the majority of the Canadian media landscape. The story is being ignored, and you're posting a smiley as if what I said isn't true. Media bias is revealed just as much by what ISN'T covered as it is by what IS covered. God forbid someone actually acknowledge the pervasive leftist bias of the Canadian media landscape!

It's obvious to some of us, but that doesn't seem to include you.

Wait... Pakistani Shiah Muslims are more "traditional and extremist" than "average Muslims"? Did our resident communist jacee just make something up for the sake of argumentation that is not only blatantly untrue but smells like a crude and bigoted generalisation? Ironically, she just falsely accused me of doing something similar. The irony of the left never ceases to entertain...

How do you have the temerity to ask that question when you have ignored repeated requests by me to back up your allegations ? You have a very lax style of debate.

I reply to you when I feel like it. I find you boring, uninteresting, unintelligent, ignorant, and dishonest. And I think you try to hide it under a false veneer of civility. Don't be surprised when I don't reply to you.

Speaking of irony - you accused me of leftism, racist allegations, and refused to reply to my requests for proof. Now you're jumping on your outrage platform and complaining of false allegations... and calling irony !

The irony machine just broke.

I won't be. But don't expect others to serve you with proofs if you argue that way.

Also - you should probably look up 'irony' in your ironic dictionary.

This thread is really entertaining. I've even made popcorn.

Sure why not?

People protest all sorts of dumb ideas, but only the mindset of an inferior person makes it out like the sky is falling, you know, like some agenda he has.

Not you mind you.....I hope.

I just fing the 1200 people chanting for the death of others over a short movie, or a cartoon; simply too intollerant to be allowed to enter the country. We dont need murderers, hatred and intollerance here. I would say the same if it was a faith from Norway or where ever. Its sickening and an intollerant faith. The recent developments highlight that.. Its NOT a "small group", its Hundreds of thousands up in arms and ready to kill over a movie. Please tell the family of the Libyan embassidor that was slaughtered that "its ok"

Strangely, most people here seem to think the same about you.
