Read over those threats again. None of those are directed towards the Prime Minister.

Again, even if the PM was attacked, the death of a Prime Minister does not change our government anyway. That in itself is security against someone attacking the PM for political aims.

Besides, Chretien was 2 Prime Ministers ago. Harper's security detail seems excessive. He's not even our Head of State. Murdering the Prime Minister changes absolutely nothing. The party just elects a new leader and things carry on, business as usual. That's security in itself.

Not head of state? Oh sure our GG carries out the duties of a ceremonial head of state, but Harper much as you want to deny it, IS our elected head of our country and certainly as important to US as any other countries leader; "The Prime Minister of Canada (French: Premier ministre du Canada) is the primary minister of the Crown, chairman of the Cabinet, and thus head of government for Canada." ...and not the first.

You do sound a bit unbalanced at times. Of course as the head of the country Harper would be targeted. Canada under Harper has had troops in Afghanistan, openly supported Israel, openly criticized Islam.

The 2006 Ontario terrorism case refers to the plotting of a series of attacks against targets in Southern Ontario, Canada, and the June 2, 2006, counter-terrorism raids in and around the Greater Toronto Area that resulted in the arrest of 18 people (the "Toronto 18") found to be Al-Qaeda members of an Islamic terrorist cell.

They were accused of planning to detonate truck bombs, to open fire in a crowded area, and to storm the Canadian Broadcasting Centre, the Canadian Parliament building, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) headquarters, and the parliamentary Peace Tower to take hostages and to behead the Prime Minister and other leaders.

Want some cheese to go with your whine?

"Murdering the Prime Minister changes absolutely nothing." Gee wilikers Layton dying changed the entire party, of course he was more Canadian and obviously more important than a mere Prime Minister.

Churchill was also Prime Minister in the war years. Had he been assassinated it wouldn't have mattered?

How about if Blair had been assassinated would the Iraq war support stayed the same? Would it not have mattered?

Of course Harper's demise while in office would cause considerable upheaval. He's far more important as Prime Minister than you would like to admit. Certainly more respected as our leader by other countries than perhaps a Cretien or Martin was. Certainly more influential than Layton.

I refuse to carry on a conversation with someone that is completely wrong and refuses to acknowledge it.

Me too, it's unanimous. I'm waiting for all that money to be redeployed protecting Our G.G. who is obviously a more serious target and in need of far more protection than our Prime Minister.

Harper... IS our elected head of our country... "The Prime Minister of Canada (French: Premier ministre du Canada) is the primary minister of the Crown, chairman of the Cabinet, and thus head of government for Canada."

You seem to have Canada's system confused with the American one, wherein the head of government and head of state are the same person and is directly elected. Or, you've confused the country with the government. Either way, there's a key couple of words you've quoted in there, but have missed their meaning: "minister of the Crown". "Minister" means servant and, specifically in this case, advisor. If Harper is a minister of the Crown, appointed by the Crown to be prime minister, no less, how can he either be the Crown or be more than the Crown, as you imply he is?

This is fruitless.
