We can't afford Mulcair's NDP

Recommended Posts

Well here we go!

The long waited for attack adds promised by the conservatives against the NDP are finally here.

I did not provide the link(maybe someone here can for me?).

It seems that this add is somewhat of a let down.I was expecting more from big bad Harper and the blue meanies.

What is it the conservatives are trying to accomplish with this add?Since they highlight the fact behind many layoffs in Ontario and Quebec that they are responsible for????

It almost seems that they are shooting theme selves in the foot with this one.(I hope it hurts)

the cons are scared of mulcair and they know they have no chance to defeat the ndp in 2015. the cons are the most scandolous goverment in history. just think how many more scandals there will be before 2015. they wont be able to sweep them all under the rug like the afghan detainee issue that abused the human rights of afghanis

And for good reason. I'm scared of him too!

and they know they have no chance to defeat the ndp in 2015.

That must be some crystal ball you're consulting. You really think anyone can predict the direction the politics of this country will go in the next 3 years? You obviously have not heard the saying "a week in politics is an eternity".

the cons are the most scandolous goverment in history.

You don't seem to know much about Canada's political history.

they wont be able to sweep them all under the rug like the afghan detainee issue that abused the human rights of afghanis

War is hell.

I'm just wondering where this lab is where these dangerous experiments are being conducted because it sure as hell isn't in the legislatures across the country. The NDP has the best fiscal record of all the major parties.

that is something most no-nothin canadians dont know. provincial ndp goverments in nova scotia and manitoba are leadin those provinces to prosperity. manitoba especially has benefitted greatly from a decade of the ndp, especially public education in that province. nova scotia is an up and comer in provincial powers. just wait unti they have a decade of ndp. people are gettin smarter and know the ndp is the future.

Ya that's part of the reason why I am scratching my head about this add.

It actually does more harm against the conservatives!

I do not think that the conservatives have much appetite for attacking the NDP and are only putting this add out to please the contributors for the time being.

I'd say the Conservatives are keeping the more personal ads till closer to the election.

Possibly?

Then why the attack adds a month or so ago against Rae?

Perhaps the conservatives are worried?

I know one thing for sure.If Mulcair was as vulnerable as Ignatief or Dion, the attack adds would be flying long ago.

Is that the tax payers in Ontario or Alberta?

That's the taxpayers that Mulcair would be taking money off of. I would expect any NDP government institute across the board tax increases on virtually everything. Income taxes would go up. Gas taxes would go up. Sales taxes would go up. And there'd a new regimen of environmental taxes on industry.

And the deficit would also go up, btw. I expect massive new spending in the form of tax credits and government incentives for environmental initiatives, and massive new spending on, let's just call them our less productive citizenry.

Again, there have been numerous NDP governments that have had the opportunity to carry out your disaster scenario and they have actually done a lot to improve the provinces they led. This contradicts the rhetoric and hyperbole from the right about what a nightmare a federal NDP government would be.

Increasing taxes would help pay for a national registry of stolen cell phones, called for by NDP MP Mike Sullivan.

Mike Sullivan, MP for York South-Weston, says the CRTC must act quickly to create a registry of identification numbers from stolen cellphones and ask providers not to reactivate phones on that list.

At least 15 students at Chaminade College School, a Catholic boys’ high school near Black Creek Drive and Lawrence Avenue West in Sullivan’s riding, have been mugged for their cellphones, some of them beaten, since the beginning of the school year.

“We shouldn’t have this fear and intimidation, which is rampant at this school and in 12 Division,” said Sullivan.

Off the top, a couple of problems with this "idea" come to mind. Any kid who lost his cell phone and said someone stole it...zap...it would be added to the national stolen cell phone registry. And, service providers would have to double fees to cover their costs of conforming to the national stolen cell phone registry law. And then a slew of bureaucrats would be hired to, er, manage the registry.

This is the kind of gem we'd be facing with a federal NDP government.

I agree that's idiotic, however, are you saying Vic Toews' many iterations of his spy bill isn't equally wasteful and frighteningly idiotic???

I see, it’s like the gun registry, but only better. ;)

What? Does Toews want to set up a registry of spies? ;)

Nope...

Just give the police sweeping powers to spy on any and all Canadian citizens to stop "child pornographers"...

'Cause using Vic's logic, many Canadian citzens aren't just pedophiles..They like to put it on film,as well!!!

(Hi Vic! :D )

Actually, the gun registry would be resuscitated and melded with the stolen cell phone registry. A twofer, if you will. Police would not only know if a gun was on the premises before entering, but also a stolen cell phone. Clever stuff. ;)

Some parts of Canada will vote for the Tories no matter what they do, but most voters are getting to know what this party is all about, the pros and the cons of it and there's more cons than pros, in my view. If the liberals don't or can't get there act together, then voters who do want the Tories gone will go with the NDP. After all, if Harper can be PM, why not anyone else?

Oh I see.

The NDP would raise taxes to pay for a preventative measure to help reduce actual "reported" real crimes.

But the conservatives would never raise taxes to pay for the latest fighter jets to fight phantoms fears, right!

Nor would they raise taxes to pay for all those extra jails we will need for unreported crimes.

Are the conservatives really all that fiscally responsible????

I know I would never allow these kind of budget decisions to happen in my household or I would go bankrupt!

But why should the conservatives care? Its not their money they're wasting.

Pure genius!!! Why don’t they create an ice pick and kitchen knife registry to boot?

Why not a user pay system? Owners of Cell Phones have to pay to have their phones registered and make the fee such an amount that the program becomes revenue neutral ?

Sounds like Mike Sullivan is trying to help his constituents.

I guess some people prefer an MP that is more comfortable kissing the ass of corporations and big oil companies in Alberta as opposed to helping those down home here in Ontario.

I hope Sullivan reminds Ontario voters come 2015!
