GostHacked Posted June 14, 2012 Report Posted June 14, 2012 You think banning crime is a stupid idea? Crime IS banned, but crime still exists. Why? Quote
waldo Posted June 14, 2012 Report Posted June 14, 2012 Crime IS banned, but crime still exists. Why? according to MLW member, 'Derek L',... it must be due to the bail system... "denied bail is a judgement based on possible future guilt"... er... no, wait... "granted bail is a judgement based on possible future innocence"... er... no, wait... just get rid of the bail system! Hey now, I understand Harper Conservatives are building a prison industry... perfect! Quote
GostHacked Posted June 14, 2012 Report Posted June 14, 2012 OH this seems like a plausible solution to the problem .. http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20120614/vaughn-calls-for-bullet-ban-120614/20120614?hub=TorontoNewHome "The hope here is that if we make it harder to get bullets, fewer will be flying through the city and everything from police officers' lives, to suicide prevention, to some of the shootings we've seen in public spaces will be that much harder to occur in places like Toronto," he said. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAh Quote

Let's see the effect that has. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) Crime IS banned, but crime still exists. Why? You don’t follow the logic? If Toronto bans guns from within the city, no more gun crime will happen correct? I say take it a step further and ban all forms of crime across Canada Edited June 15, 2012 by Derek L Quote

Of course no one has ever proposed that, that would be the difference between the reality of the banning-wrap everyone in bubble wrap and it will be all ok crowd, and the unreality of red herrings such as the one you proposed above. It's an equal and opposite red herring. Stinks just as bad. Point is, the outcome is virtually certain. Quote

No, there is no comparison between suggesting we give everyone guns and ammunition and suggesting we ban bullets in Toronto to prevent shootings. The first is ridiculous, and has never been suggested, the second has been suggested, is impossible and couldn't possibly have any impact on crime. One is unreality, the other while inane is in fact being suggested, equally stupid, but only one of those is actually being considered. In this case the truth, or reality, is stranger than the fiction, because the fiction you suggested will not ever happen, you're creating a fallacy while deflecting away from the reality that some idiot Councillor in Toronto thinks its possible to remove bullets from the city. He is ridiculously wrong, i hope you can see that. Quote
Guest Manny Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 He is ridiculously wrong, i hope you can see that. I say it's worth a try, even if it cannot be made to work perfectly. It's the same as prohibition, no better no worse. But at least an attempt at keeping down violence done in the heat of passion. The criminals, they will always do whatever they do. Hell the cops don't even really go after them. Too dangerous. Quote
