No...if people like you get their way there will be world war. See: Origins of WW2. You'd have let Germany do whatever it wanted, too.

If we let Germany do whatever they wanted to the NAZIs would never have used the treaty of versailles in the first place to come to power. Just thought I would point out you don't get to change history.

Maybe just maybe their wont be a next world war. I know if people like you get their way there will be but lets just hope.

You think I advocate war? Quite the opposite actually, but unilateral disarmament doesn’t ensure peace…….For nearly 50 years, the largest operators of nuclear weapons, ensured world peace with their collective arsenals……..to paraphrase, Peace was their Profession.

No one is talking about disarmament. I just want the government to put this out to tender.

I just want the government to stop lying to parliament and defrauding the electorate.

And that brings us full circle…….there is no other option than the F-35, hence putting the contract out to tender is futile………The debate should be whether we require a fighter force centered around the F-35 or no fighter force at all……….Purchasing a 4th + generation aircraft, at the cost of billions of dollars, with the intent to operate it until the 2050s is a waste of money.

I asked this question and stated this fact numerous times when people suggest a Super Hornet like alternative:

The Australians purchased 24 Super Hornets for 6.6 billion and intend on retiring them in the mid 2020s……What would that same purchase look like in terms of cost with ~triple the order and with a longer expected service life?

Yah all governments who are corrupt say putting something out to tender is a bad idea.

Nice dodge......So you’re suggesting, all the F-35 partner nations Governments, over the last 10-15 years, many alternating between “right-wing” and “left-wing” political parties, are all corrupt?

bazinga! Son of Super Hornet... in case the JSF "flames out entirely"! Oh, is there a problem?

And the "son of Super Hornet" is what?

The US put this out to tender and had a bidding process. The Dutch haven't even committed to buying the plane, Turkey who was talking about 13 planes has cuts its order 2 and looks like it is going with the Eurofighter Typhoons. So that is what cost to half of the JSF, in the other half of the countries opposition parties just like in Canada are asking Questions.

I know and they just put that out last week. The more news the less good news for the other side of the argument.

Boeing and General Dynamics (And Lockheed) have being working on the concepts of the 6th generation for years……hardly news.

I know which is why when we said we were buying these f35s a lot of people said that if we can push it a few years this plane will be the plane of the past we will be stuck with.

my point? My point, following up on MLW member punked's point, is that you've leaped to a most disingenuous and self-serving interpretation - "6th generation aircraft"! In actuality, the linked article speaks to the U.S. Navy "hedging" against the failure of the F-35 program. All we've ever heard from youse guys is, "if not the F-35, then what"? Apparently, the U.S. Navy would also like an answer to that question. Go figure!

Go look it all up. The US had a bidding process the F35 won their process and requirements.
