Michael Hardner Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 What is this ? It's some kind of metaphor for punching your pillow and sobbing your opinion about... uh... provinces and territories ? Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Michael Hardner
TheNewTeddy Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 I'm curious For example, whenever I hear NB in the news, my first reaction is "uugh god, what mess have they gotten themselves in to this time". When I recall news from NB I remember the following: Deficits Debt Falling to 10th among the provinces on various rating scales When I hear Saskatchewan in the news, I always say "oh, what new thing have they innovated" The news stories I recall about it on the top of my head are: A very popular premier Jobs jobs jobs Surpluses Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. stopstaaron Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 I never hear about NB in the news.. or ever until now Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
TheNewTeddy Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 Supposedly, Canadians given a blank map of Canada most often can not properly identify or find New Brunswick. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. Add "TheNewTeddy" to Twitter, Facebook, or Hotmail to reach me!
j44 Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 I never hear about NB in the news.. or ever until now Supposedly, Canadians given a blank map of Canada most often can not properly identify or find New Brunswick. Whenever I feel concerned about the state of NS I look to NB and usually cheer up. Quote
Evening Star Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 Has anything been innovated in SK recently?? My sense was that the boom is due almost entirely to commodity prices and resource extraction. When I hear Saskatchewan in the news, I always say "oh, what new thing have they innovated" The news stories I recall about it on the top of my head are: A very popular premier Jobs jobs jobs Surpluses Quote
cybercoma Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 I live in NB and I can tell you it's a beautiful province with a lot to offer. Although the provincial unemployment rate is one of the highest in the country, Fredericton has been rapidly growing over the last several years. The biggest problem has been awful politicians. David Alward, the premier, for instance jumped to support the Omnibus Crime Bill immediately without considering the ramifications for this already debt-crippled province. He ought to have said something along the lines of "while we support the Conservatives move to create a safer Canada, we are concerned about the cost of impelementing these changes." It's as if he has no idea this is a federalist system. I get he's a Conservative. But his number 1 concern ought to be NB. Quote

j44 Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 Can I use anger and slipping? Referring to Quebec? Quote
Smallc Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 I don't understand people's irrational animosity towards Quebec. Quote
TheNewTeddy Posted April 6, 2012 Author Report Posted April 6, 2012 (edited) I used to live in New Brunswick as well and never had any problems. In fact it was the province where I found I could do what I wanted most easily. The problem is with the government. edit I've also lived in PEI, and currently live in Ontario. j44 Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 I don't understand people's irrational animosity towards Quebec. Anger is a bit much but I just picked the lowest choice. My dislike of Quebec at times is not irrational. I also dislike other provinces at times or when it comes to certain issues. No one every calls me on it when I criticize other provinces though. Quote
bleeding heart Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Supposedly, Canadians given a blank map of Canada most often can not properly identify or find New Brunswick. Makes sense. It's not as if NB is crucial to the very founding of the country itself, or anything...... It would appear that ignorance breeds...Canadians! Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver." --Bill Graham, Former Canadian Foreign Minister, 2007
