He threw one low level guy under the bus. If you think this staffer got a hold of these documents all on there own and did not get approval somewhere up the ladder you are fooling yourself.

I doubt we'll ever know one way or another.

Rae handled this just like Harper handling the Robo calls he found a low level fall guy who makes 40-50 grand a year, threw him under the bus

I disagree. Harper and the Conservatives want a full investigation to go forward. They and the opps voted unanimously that they all cooperate with the investigation. As far as Michael Sona's firing is concerned, obviously the Conservatives have information of his involvement in something nefarious. They said they turned over all the information they have to Elections Canada. Let's see what else happens to Sona following the investigation.

what? You don't think once the screws are tightened, Sona won't sing to protect his lily white?

I understand there was a House apology offered by Rae... did I miss Harper apologizing to the House over Sona's antics?

Do follow the conversation waldo. It is Lib staffer Carroll punked and I were discussing, not Sona.

no, it was a purposeful comment that you bit on. It's exactly what has been thrown back by Conservative supporters to diminish the role of Sona... to push it all off on one low-level guy conveniently thrown under the bus... with the cursory come-back, your like come-back, that, "we'll never know if it goes higher".

in any case, your deflection is noted... so let me ask again about that missing Harper apology to the House for Sona's actions. Any updates?

He wont sing. Even if he gets some extreme penalty like 5 years in prison he will be promised to be more then compensated when he gets out. Heck look where G. Gordon Liddy is after Watergate.

Waldo, how can he apologize if he doesn't know if he or his party actually did something wrong?

True, he may know and just be faking it but either way, what is he supposed to say?

"I don't believe we've done anything wrong but if we did I'm sorry!"

I mean really, doesn't that sound more like a cliche modern liberal?

Or your typical polite and apologetic Canadian! :P

no, the comment made reflects on the 'apology distinctions' in regards Sona vs. Carroll. Rae comes forward to the House revealing Carroll as the culprit and Rae offers an apology. Sona is thrown under the bus once the investigation starts honing in... and Sona is fired. Where's the comparable Harper apology in association with the Sona firing?

I thought Sona was fired for messing with a disputed ballot box location. Carroll was fired for an invasion of privacy.

Is it your position that the two are morally equivalent?

Or is it enough that the two names contained some of the same letters?

Nope he was kept on after messing with the ballot boxes, and hired by the party after the election. He was canned for the Robo calls remember?

what invasion of privacy? As I understand it, as I read the varying analysis, anything on Vikileaks was so-called public knowledge.

but really, what are you about? Sona's Guelph ballot box antics were well established back during the election campaign... are you seriously now claiming that the recent days firing of Sona reflects back to the 9months+ dated Guelph incident?

Frankly, there's so much monkeypoo flying in all directions that I'm losing track! :P

Carroll's been found out and he's gone, its up to Vic to do anything more to him BUT Sona is in a better position because IF he knows anything more about who is behind this and the thoughts of going to prison and becoming someone elses wife, as they say, and being offered reduced jail time, I think he point the finger and by doing this he could become a bit of a hero to be the person who finally proves how dirty the party really is.

Punked, the vikileaks "scandal" is nowhere near the scope of the robocall election fraud. All the vikileaks stuff was already pretty widely known in MB and very easy to aquire court records. Anyone can set up a twitter account in about 5 mins and it is easy to believe that he acted alone. The robocalls were a massive election fraud scheme that covers dozens of ridings and had to be coordinated to have access to all the voter identification info collected by the Conservative party to have carried out this crime. Rae took responsibility even though it is very unlikely that he could have had knowledge of who was behind vikileaks and he looks like a bigger man for it. All the Cons have to say in regards to their massive electoral fraud scheme is "prove it", and "catch me if you can"!

Yeah, he took responsibility when he had the Speaker breathing down his neck. Do you honestly think Rae would have outed his staffer in the Liberal research-cum war room office if the Speaker's investigation was going nowhere? Especially when he's working so hard to push the Conservatives against the wall. I doubt it very much.

The Vikileaks Twitter account that revealed personal details of Public Safety Minister Vic Toews’ divorce was “an unacceptable use of House IT resources,” speaker Andrew Scheer ruled Tuesday.

Last week, interim Liberal leader Bob Rae informed the House of Commons Liberal party researcher Adam Caroll — who has since resigned — was behind the account.

“In view of this unconditional apology made personally by (Rae) and on behalf of his party as a whole, and in keeping with what has been done in similar circumstances in the past, I am prepared to consider this particular aspect of the question of privilege closed,” Mr. Scheer said.

Maybe closed for the Speaker, but the matter will not disappear in public discourse.

What does he mean House IT resources? does he not know that twitter is free to use?

There was no resources used up to make this

and what do you mean this will not disappear in public discourse? are you under the impression that canadians did not like this? because newsflash they did!!

Vic Toews will be allowed to know exactly who's been looking at his divorce file, a judge ruled Wednesday morning.

Justice Richard Saull granted the Conservative MP a court order this morning to let him know the names of people who have viewed his publicly available court file at Winnipeg's Law Courts complex after embarrassing details in it were published on the Internet and through Twitter.

To access files in Manitoba's Court of Queen's Bench, members of the public must fill out a requisition slip.

Wouldn't it be something if whoever peeped into Toews' divorce files signed in as "Pierrette Poutine"?
