CPCFTW Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Would be funny to see how many here were whining about about Harper's trip to watch the Canucks playoff game. I'm certain many of Obama's defenders here were up in arms over the $11,000 trip: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-notebook/cost-of-stanley-cup-jaunt-to-boston-11000-harpers-share-1060/article2172928/ Kudos to olpfan1 for not being a typical lefty hypocrite. What's your point? I compared this to a similar situation which occurred in Canada (albeit for far less money and with far more lefty whining). Just pointing out the hypocrisy of many lefty posters here. Edited February 28, 2012 by CPCFTW Quote
Guest Derek L Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 no problemo oh ObamaDerangementSyndrome one... cause when the OP trolls around for 2 year old nothingness, it's all good. Here, with the following, have a chew on the related equally 2 year old vacation summary that spurned the supposed equally 2 year old 'ad': let me hit the highpoints for ya as you're worrying about the money the U.S. government pays for its Presidential vacations! ... $1 million of that $1.4 million cost associates to the cost of a Hawaii return flight for the 'Air Force One' plane... also take note of the personal monies spent by Obama. Good point, but you forgot to add the C-5/C-17 that will fly the Presidential Motorcade over as well……..Also a needed expense that should be factored in……..I wouldn’t begrudge President Obama for having a vacation…………Anymore than I would President Bush, PM Harper or past Liberal Pms…… Quote
waldo Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 What's your point? as I said, you're in the wrong forum - this is U.S. Politics. If you'd like to discuss the vacation/entertainment extravagances of Stephen Harper, there are more appropriate threads. Quote
waldo Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 I wouldn’t begrudge President Obama for having a vacation of course not. However, the usual suspects take extreme exception to highlighting facts that point out the relative presidential comparisons showing where Obama actually stacks up against other U.S. Presidents vacation days... it kinda rubs their false narrative the wrong way! It's even better when one of them resurrects a dated "ad graphic" from a Scandinavian Islamist watch site! Quote
Shady Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 I wouldn’t begrudge President Obama for having a vacation What about 16 vacactions in 3 years? And weekly concerts at the White House. All during a time when many Americans are struggling to get by, or out of work. At the very least, it's a bit out of touch. Quote

Like I said, your false narrative falls flat when compared with other U.S. Presidents... the catch phrase making the rounds right now: "Dubya, at the same point of time, had made 30 visits to "the Crawford Texas ranch"... spanning all or part of 220 days. The vacation day count for Obama's is less than half of that". Facts Shady, and remember... you're missing your citations and context. Quote

sharkman Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 I assume that he Crawford Ranch was better set up for doing real work than various vacation venues episodically picked by the Obama family. Add to that the ranch would have much lower associated costs with protecting the president and having staff flown in, etc, than the many countries and places the Obamas have travelled to. Then, as mentioned, you add in the many concerts and parties the Obamas have thrown bringing in all manner of artists. They definitely have Cadillac tastes, those Obamas. And while the left bitched and moaned about 'vacations' to the Crawford Ranch, they are perfectly fine with the Obamas taking multiple vacations per year and spending multiple millions on that and BB King singing, "The Thrill is Gone". Looks like ol' BB has it right about that. Never mind that Barry has been playing so much more golf than Bush did he should join the pro tour, which is yet another thing the Left has been hypocritical about. But I think Romney is going to do something about that... Quote
waldo Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 dig deeper sharkman! Perhaps you can extend on your fake outrage and come up with a dollar analysis to counter the fewer number of Obama vacation days! Quote

Compare that to Michelle Antoinette, when she took herself, and 40 of her closest friends to Spain. Where they booked 60 to 70 rooms, at a mere $2500 dollars per night. Quote

Please compare the President to the First lady some more Shady. I notice you didn't mention how Michelle and her friends paid their own way Shady. Why do you think that is? Laura Bush did the same thing though and I have no problem with the First Lady PAYING FOR THEIR OWN VACATION. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2001/07/18/DD149009.DTL Quote

jbg Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Do you think they have the audacity to take a vacation this summer, just before the election? Hey, Ohio and Virginia are nice for vacations that time of the year. Florida, maybe a bit hot and rainy. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." It doesn’t mater, any President can run the country from the back(Well technically the front) of a VC-25.……With modern communications and electronics today, it’s even easier, when compared to ~30 years ago from the White House or Camp David.
